FROM TIANJIN TO BEIJING BY BULLET TRAIN It was back in 2022 that Air Serbia established regular flights between Serbia and China, with the first destination being Tianjin, a city on the shores of the Bo- hai Sea that represents the main port supplying Beijing. The Chinese capital can be reached by high-speed bullet train in just 30 minutes, and here we provide a few guidelines that might prove useful for that journey. You can take the metro or a taxi from the airport to the train station from which the bullet train to Beijing departs. If you opt to take the metro, a ticket costs up to 6 yuan (approx. 90 dinars) and can be purchased at the entrance, from a coun- ter or ticket vending machine, or via the AliPay app. Select Line 2 and you will ar- rive at the train station in Tianjin after nine stops, or around 26 minutes. If you opt to take a taxi, the ride from the airport to the train station will last around 35 min- utes and cost up to 50 yuan (approx. 800 dinars). You can also buy train tickets at the station itself, at the ticket desk or through the Railway12306 app. When travelling to Beijing, be sure to choose the Beijing SOUTH Railway station, as that’s the only station with platforms for bullet trains. A one-way ticket costs 54.5 yuan (second class), 88 yuan (first class) or 174 yu- an (business class). If you purchase your ticket via the app, it is automatical- ly linked to your passport and doesn’t require printing - it is sufficient for the of- ficers to check your passport to see that you’ve bought a ticket. Upon arrival at the train station in Tianjin, you will first go through security checks, before continuing on to the desk for manual checks, where officers will check your passport. After your passport has been examined, find out which check in gate you need. This information is displayed on monitors located throughout the station. When you reach your check in gate, approach the officer standing to the side in order for them to once again check your passport manually. Unlike residents, who use ID card scanning to enter, foreigners are permitted to enter by an official. You can then head down to the platform to board your train.
