Field Day Showcases Emergency Communications

The community is invited to join Irvine Disaster Emergency Communications (IDEC) during the 2025 Field Day Saturday, June 28, from noon to 6 p.m. in Hangar 244 at the Great Park. Field Day is an annual nationwide event, sponsored by the American Radio Relay League, showcasing amateur radio operations in a 24-hour contest and public demonstration. Visitors can learn about IDEC, a volunteer organization of licensed amateur radio operators supporting the

City of Irvine’s emergency preparedness response and general public safety. Guests can also tour IDEC’s communications vehicle, see emergency communications in action, and even connect with ham radio operators worldwide. Scouts can also work toward their radio merit badge during the event.
