From the time they were teenagers, Becca Nicke and Nicole “Red” Perez were drawn together by their shared love for self-expression. The two met while working at a shop in Red’s hometown of LeClaire, Iowa, and quickly became close friends. What started as a teenage job turned into a lifelong partnership built on artistry and the shared dream of creating a space that celebrates individuality. Years later, that dream became reality with the opening of Abernathy’s, a one-of-a-kind boutique in downtown Davenport known for its mix of vintage treasures, handmade goods, and alternative fashion. From the very beginning, Becca and Red envisioned Abernathy’s as more than a store. They wanted it to be an experience, a reflection of the Quad Cities’ creative soul, and a home for people who wanted to express themselves freely. Their journey, however, hasn’t been without challenges. When their original storefront suffered severe flood damage in 2019, they made the difficult
decision to move, but not to give up. Within months, they reopened at their current location on West 3rd Street, welcoming customers back with open arms and even more energy than before. In 2024, Becca and Red proudly celebrated Abernathy’s 10-year anniversary, marking a decade of persistence, passion, and community. The store has become an anchor in downtown Davenport’s cultural scene. Beyond their storefront, they are generous supporters of the Quad Cities’ local art scene and regularly give back to organizations that

modern look, Theo & Co. carries tailored pieces that elevate any wardrobe. Music lovers will appreciate Ragged Records and RAYGUN , where you’ll find quirky apparel, vinyl, and locally inspired goods that celebrate individuality. Vendors and shops across the QC also extend their reach through spaces like Gathered Goods , where local makers can display, sell, and connect with the community.
