of the matter is that you and God are in partnership together. What an over whelming majority against the sinful ness of this world!
battle, but never used for the victory. Many years ago, a severe coin shortage swept England. Prime Minister Glad stone urged that the statues which were made of metal be used for coins. Speaking of the crisis he declared, “I propose that the saints be melted down and put into circulation.” What a note of definition and exhortation for our lives! May the divine fire of Gods love be rekindled brightly in our hearts so that we may get into useful circulation for the Lord, as purposeful witnesses for His honor and glory.

MISSING THE VALUE Have you ever tasted caviar? Un til about a hundred years ago, farm ers in this country fed caviar to their pigs. I t seems no one realized that the eggs of sturgeon caught in the Atlan tic ocean were the same as the caviar imported from Russia. The American product was eaten only by the poor. It was used mainly for pig feed and fish bait. One could buy a large sturgeon for about 25 cents. More than a fourth of its heavy weight was caviar. Of course, today, this is supposedly a rare deli cacy. Because of over-fishing, the A t lantic sturgeon has now become quite rare. Likewise people often overlook the valuable treasure which is right before them. Of Christ’s coming to this earth, Isaiah rightly prophesied, “He hath no form nor comeliness that we should desire him.” Still today men reject God’s free g ift of peace, joy, and eter nal salvation. Some day, perhaps far sooner than realized, it will be forever too late, for at death one’s eternal des tiny is forever sealed. Have you an swered this penetrating question, “How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation?”

THE MINORITY’S MAJORITY Are you ever discouraged? It seems the world has gone mad, with no time for God. Right, remember, is not al ways on the side of the majority. When Isaac Newton announced his discovery ■ of the law of gravity, he was derided as a crazy mathematician. When Gali leo insisted that the earth revolved around the sun, he was tried as a re ligious heretic. When Louis Pasteur said that people could be immunized against the power of certain diseases by vaccinations, his critics were blunt and cruel. When Rowland Hill proposed using postage stamps as a means of prepaying the delivery of mail, his idea was called a foolish visionary scheme. Even the use of the typewriter was at tacked. A flurry of opposition greeted the YWCA when it announced its in tention to assist girls in learning how to operate the machine. Believe it or not, there were men who charged that this skill would be beyond the ability of mere female minds. Scripturally speaking, we recall that the first disci ples were a marked minority proclaim ing the resurrection of Christ in the face of powerful opposition. Time and the personal experience of millions have proved the majority to be wrong. To day, as we see moral standards chang ing, with bars of restraint let down, as a Christian we need to stand forth positively for the truth, even though we are decidedly in the minority. The fact

NEED FOR PRAISE No matter how difficult and dis couraging our situation may find us, there is always something for which to praise the Lord. David rightly de clared, “I will ble88 the Lord at all times.” A favorite old hymn, familiar especially at Thanksgiving, but impor tant at any time of the year, was writ ten by Martin Rinkert, “Now Thank 25
