guarantee one’s reservations. As help ful as this system may prove to be, however, there is an even more won derful way to be assured of a place, not just for a night’s lodging, but for all eternity. This is through the match less heavenly communication service. The lines are always open. No numbers have to be remembered, and no special equipment is necessary. Our permanent access to God has been made possible by the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. Have you made your reservation? The Bible says, “. . . I t is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment” (Heb. 9:27). Your eternal destination must be set tled; it cannot be avoided. Listen again to Scripture’s penetrating question, which you dare not leave unanswered, “How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation?” (Heb. 2:3). OBNOXIOUS ODORS Are you aware that millions of dol lars are spent every year in a scientif ic effort to eliminate unpleasant odors? Scientists at the Illinois Institute of Technology recently reported that the average person at various times can emit as many as 36 different and dis tinctive odors (or perhaps, we should say, fragrances). Dr. Andrew Drav- nieits, who directed these experiments, further declares that some people have as many as a hundred separate smells. The reason for such studies is to reveal how that instead of using fingerprints, identification could just as readily be made by these scents. A new tool, known as a chromatography, enables researchers to identify even combina tions of odors. The fragrance is actu ally a vapor which is caused by loose molecules drifting off the individual or the substance. As far as we are con cerned, these are detected by sensors in the nose. An impulse is then sent to the brain which can conjure up a men tal picture of that which is smelled. Fascinating are the possibilities devel oped by science. Spiritually speaking, All places on earth, regardless of their location, are an equal distance from heaven.

We All Our God.” Pastor Rinkert’s ministry was in Eilenberg, Saxony dur ing the historic 30-years’ war, three centuries ago. Historians record this as one of the darkest eras to befall the earth. Disease and pestilence swept the countryside, decimating the population. In 1637 there in Eilenberg, 8,000 people, including Rinkert’s wife, were wiped out. As the only minister left in the area, he alone conducted 4,480 grave commitments in one year. In an aver age day he would have as many as 40 to 50 burial services. Yet, amid such overwhelming heartache, he was moved to write that old hymn, “Now Thank We All Our God, with heart and hand and voices. Whose wondrous things hath done, in whom His world rejoices.” Sorrow and sickness may plague your life today, as well as this new month. We are to be thankful “in” all things, not necessarily “for*’ all things. May these few thoughts cause those of us who are weighed down with troubles today to lift our hearts with the Psalm ist and rejoice, “Bless the Lord, 0 my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, 0 my soul, and forget not all his benefits” (Psa. 103:1-2).
