Spelling champ seeks hat trick

ROCKLAND | Veronica Penny has earned herself another shot at scoring her own hat trick in spelling at the nationals. Rockland’s mistress of morphology, sor- ceress of semantics, the lady with the last word in locution will represent the Ottawa region at the Spelling Bee of Canada Cham- pionships in Toronto on May 12. Penny has at her command the experi- ence of 10 regional spelling titles, five times both the Hamilton and the Ottawa regional champion, and a two-time past provin- cial titleholder who has represented both Hamilton and Ottawa at the world-famous Scripps National Spelling Bee in the United States.

ROCKLAND | The end of June promises to be an EPIC time at the Optimiste Perfor- mance Hall. The EPIC community dance company of Clarence-Rockland is warming up for an- other weekend spectacle of kaleidoscopic choreography over the June 27 weekend.
