Lifting More Than You Can Handle? NO JOB IS WORTH A LIFETIME INJURY
Have you ever tried to lift something heavy on the job, felt a twinge in your back, and thought, “That’s going to hurt in the morning”? Sometimes, that extra strain turns into a serious injury that can put you out of work for weeks or even permanently. I see it all the time — workers pushing through tasks that should be a two-person job, using makeshift equipment, or just doing what the boss tells them because they don’t want to rock the boat. June is National Safety Month, an important reminder that no job is worth an injury that could put you out of work or worse. Whether it’s lifting wrong, working without proper equipment, or not receiving enough safety training from your company, the risks can add up quickly. Some of the most common injuries we see are back, shoulder, and knee problems. These orthopedic injuries typically happen on job sites due to overexertion during physical tasks like lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying heavy objects. Workers in Texas’ many big box chains like Amazon and Walmart often face these types of injuries due to their jobs’ fast-paced, high-demand nature. Whether it’s stocking shelves, loading trucks, or moving inventory, repetitive strain and improper lifting techniques can take a serious toll. One of the best ways to prevent painful work accidents is to ensure you are using the proper lifting techniques and stretching. Even more important, don’t hesitate to ask for assistance if you feel a task is too unsafe or you cannot do it alone. No matter your work ethic or the pressure you may feel to complete a job, don’t just grin and bear it if you know something is dangerous. Many people find themselves in situations where they fear retaliation or losing their position, so they just struggle through a task. You are replaceable to an employer, but your health and well-being are not as easy to restore. Tell your manager if you are concerned with the safety of what you’re being asked to do. Always know your physical limitations and keep in mind any prior injuries or conditions you have that may
make certain types of roles uncomfortable. Make sure to disclose any of your physical restrictions so they don’t put you in a position where you may get hurt. We also see cases where employees turn to makeshift equipment to get a job done, but the truth is your employer must provide you with the tools you need to do the job safely. If you don’t have what you need, ask your boss for the right equipment. In Texas, employers have a nondelegable duty to provide a safe workplace. They are required to have adequate staffing, safety policies, proper training, and resources for their team to succeed without suffering serious health problems. Responsible employers must hire people with experience and teach every team member the right ways to do things so no one gets hurt. You can always say “no” if you feel a job duty isn’t safe or you have no way to protect yourself. They could potentially fire you, but your life is much more important than a job that doesn’t truly care about you. If you feel like you need additional training, tell your supervisor. A quality company won’t deny employees trying to do a good job and stay safe. I’ve often seen situations where a person told their employer they didn’t think they could do something but felt pressured to continue, and lo and behold, something happens. Remember, they can’t terminate you if you file a personal injury claim due to a workplace injury.
Your safety and life should never come second to a company’s bottom line. If you have been hurt on the job, contact us. We’re here to help you get the compensation and care you deserve.

CHORDS OF NEW WONDER The World’s First Color-Changing Guitar
“We’re crazy. That’s the first thing you need to know.”
“We had the idea to break all the rules of the traditional guitar,” he states in an E Ink press release. “We’ve redesigned every part of an electric guitar to broaden and enhance the playing experience. Through our innovative collaboration with E Ink, we are providing artists a level of creativity that extends well beyond anything available in today’s market.” The Voltage DaVinci’s E Ink displays allow players to switch between seven styles and shades. Depending on a player’s specific needs, the guitar can be programmed to retain a static color or display various animated looks as desired. This option will appeal to performers who welcome the opportunity to alter the color of their guitar based on the mood or presentation of a particular song. Developed in the mid-1990s by scientists and engineers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), electronic ink has become a staple of mobile phones, electronic notebooks, and e-readers. With its colorful arrival in the music world, the possibilities for sonic and visual expression on stages worldwide have never been greater.
When Cream Guitars mastermind Luis Ortiz said those words in an interview with Premier Guitar on the floor of the 2024 National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Show in California, he summed up his company’s awe-inspiring vision for the future of music performance. Through a partnership with the Boston-based electronic ink and ePaper technology company E Ink, Ortiz has developed Cream Guitars’ revolutionary Voltage DaVinci, a guitar that can change color on demand. As Ortiz explained to
Premier Guitar, a player who delights churchgoers with their white guitar in the morning no longer has to switch to a black guitar when they hit the stage with their heavy metal band in the evening.
The color-changing guitars are expected to be on the market by the end of 2025 and have an estimated price tag of $3,200.
DON’T GET CAUGHT OFF GUARD Common Reasons Insurance Companies Reject Personal Injury Claims
Filing a personal injury claim is the first step toward getting the compensation you deserve after an accident, but what happens when your claim gets denied? Unfortunately, insurance companies look for any reason to reduce or reject payouts, leaving many injured individuals frustrated and unsure of what’s next. Understanding common reasons claims get denied can help you protect your rights and strengthen your case. Disputing Liability The insurance company may argue their policyholder is not to blame for the accident and any subsequent injuries. They could try to shift the responsibility onto the victim completely or point out why they were at least partially at fault for what occurred. This is why it’s so essential to attempt to gather evidence in the moments after an
incident, like photos, witness statements, and police reports. Questioning Your Injuries When you’ve been in an accident, your injuries are one of the significant elements determining how much compensation you receive. Insurance adjusters often review your medical history with a fine-toothed comb, searching for evidence of preexisting conditions that could explain away your health problems after an accident. They may also try to prove your injuries are not as severe as you’ve let on. There are essential steps you can take to curtail denials based on your medical needs. Make sure you seek treatment after an accident and attend any required follow-ups. Medical records are key to your success, and insurance companies may deny you if you can’t provide any
documentation of your appointments. It’s also important to share any preexisting conditions with your lawyer. Poking Holes in Your Story Insurers will look for any holes in your account of what transpired that cast doubt on your credibility. Insurance companies can use incomplete documentation or missing information against you, as well as any gaps in your medical treatments. Again, having evidence like witness testimony, records, and photos is key in preventing any attempts to discredit you. If your claim has been denied or you’re facing pushback from the insurance company, you don’t have to go it alone. Contact Armstrong Law today for a free consultation.

Secrets to a Stress-Free Family Picnic
SPRING FAMILY PICNICS MADE EASY
Ditch the Stress, Embrace the Fun
When was the last time you gathered the family, threw down a blanket, and enjoyed a meal together in the warm sun? A picnic is the perfect springtime activity, but the planning and food prep can make it seem like more hassle than it’s worth. The truth is, however, that picnics don’t have to be complicated. Here are four tips for planning easy family picnics. Pick the perfect picnic spot. When choosing a location for your picnic, think about how your family would like to spend the day. A park with open fields and playground equipment keeps kids entertained between bites, but a park isn’t the only option. The beach, a local lake, or a
fruit, and finger foods are tasty and quick to prepare. Add variety with veggies and hummus or cheese and crackers.
For an extra treat, grab premade cookies or brownies. Lemonade, juice, and fruit-infused water are refreshing options and keep everyone hydrated without the caffeine. Bring an insulated cooler for drinks and food, and don’t forget wet wipes for easy cleanup. Create a cozy, kid-friendly setup. The picnic blanket is a great start, but you can take things up a notch with a few extras. Plush blankets, throw pillows, and lawn chairs offer comfortable sitting and lounging options. Pack entertainment as well; outdoor games, like Frisbee and ring toss, and a portable speaker to add to the fun. Don’t forget — it’s about family! Family outings shouldn’t be stressful; the best ones are sometimes the simplest. Instead of worrying about perfect details, focus on spending time together outdoors, relaxing, and enjoying good food and even better company.
