Emphasis is given to planning and conducting creative services for the local church. 502 CHURCH MUSIC IN THE UNITED STATES (3) A survey of the practice of church music for congregation, choir and instruments. 503 MUSIC CULTURES OF THEWORLD (3) An introductory study of the interrelationships between music and cul- ture through the examination of the music of varying cultures. During the second semester a public festival service is required which is to be completely planned, organized, and con­ ducted by the student. The service is to in­ volve congregation, choir, instruments and one other media. 650 FINAL PROJECT (0) A formal paper stating the student's per­ sonal philosophy of church music and an oral exami nat ion coveri ng worship, church music in the United States or music cul­ tures of the world, and church music ad­ ministration.
