Institutional Aid BIO LA ScHOLARSHIPS include academic, honor, and presidential awards. Academic: $200 to $1,500, 3.3 G.P.A required. Based upon academic achievement and financial need. Honor: One-half tuition annually. 3.80 G.P.A required for entering freshmen and SAT scores of at least 1000 or equivalent ACT; 3.60 G.P.A required for continuing Biola students based upon academic achievement. Minimum of 12 units each semester. President's Award: Full tuition. Senior standing with intention to graduate at the end of the school year required, along with a minimum 3.60 G.P.A, atten­ dance at Biola for at least two years as well as personal qualifications. Music AwARDs, ranging from $600 to $2,600 are made by the music department to music majors with high­ performance and scholastic capabilities. The scholar­ ship must be used for the area in which the applicant auditioned. Recipients may also be required to partici­ pate in an ensemble activity. Two specially designated scholarships are open to organ and composition majors on an annual competi­ tion basis. These prestigious awards, equal to the high­ est scholarship granted, are The Rayner Brown Scholarship for Composition, and The Timothy Howard Scholarship for Organ. ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIPS are offered to students who demonstrate outstanding ability and achievement in a particular sport. FORENSICS ScHOLARSHIPS are offered to participants on the school's competitive speech team. Students awarded this scholarship are not necessarily communication majors. BIOLOGICAL ScIENCEpre-med scholarships up to $500 per semester are available to upper division biological science majors. The scholarship is based on need and pre-med potential. Application forms available from the pre-med advisory committee, department of biological science. In addition to those offered by the school, other schol­ arships are provided through the generosity of donors. Questions concerning these awards should referred to the director of student financial services. GRADUATE FINANCIAL AID Before applying, applicants should make realistic assessment of their resources for financing graduate study in view of the graduate tuition and fee schedule and the cost of living in Southern California. The following federal aid programs are available to graduate students. Please refer to the appropriate section above for additional information. PERKINSLoAN Stanford Loan (formerly GSL) - up to maximum $7,500 per year. COLLEGE WORK STUDY. In addition, the following aid programs are available specifically for graduate study.

CALIFORNIA STATE GRADUATEFELLOWSHIP are available to state residents only; requires a financial statement, eligibility application and GRE or other appropriate test scores. RSP (GRADUATE) ASSISTANTSHIPS are available to selected second year students and above; eligibility require­ ments and use of funds is established through Rosemead faculty committees. MINORITY FELLOWSHIPS are available to qualified Rosemead students on the basis of need. Requires a Financial Statement (FAF) and graduate Aid Application. GRADUATE GRANTS are available in limited amounts to students who demonstrate a financial need. Requires an FAF and Graduate Aid Application. Preference is given to students who have completed one or more years of graduate study. NANCYMEYERS NAUMAN ScHOLARSHIP FuND assistance is available to students enrolled and pursuing a degree in a graduate seminary program. STUDENT MINISTRIES INC. provides a means for family and friends to make tax-exempt contributions to a student while in seminary, if student is engaged in 8 or more hours of weekly ministry. GENERAL FINANCIAL AID INFORMATION The following apply to both undergraduate and grad­ uate aid applicants. Entitlement Aid Biola University is authorized as an institution to grant benefits to veterans and dependents, social security bene­ fits and assistance from the California Rehabilitation Program. Students interested in this type of aid should contact the Office ofAdmissions and Records. If an applicant is a non-California resident but a resi­ dent of the United States, he/she may obtain a loan through his/her state's Higher Education Loan Program, by contacting a participating bank in his/her home area. If his/her state participates in the GSL program, he/she may contact a bank in his/her community. Short Term Loans Biola University has certain revolving funds which are used for short-term student loans. A student may borrow up to $500 per year (for emergency purposes); the loan is interest free, the only charge being a nomi­ nal service fee of $2.00 per $100 borrowed. In general, these are reserved for students whose needs are of a short duration as the entire amount must be repaid before each fall semester begins unless a renewal for one year has been granted. These loans are generally not available for non-educational expenses, such as purchase of cars, marriage expenses, etc. Student Aid Grants As funds are available, Student Aid Grants are made to needy students from the Student Aid Fund. This fund is maintained by gifts from friends of the
