Development of personal plans for ministry. Elec­ tive. CE 662 YOUTH LEADERSHIP (2) Emphasis on the leadership role in the local church, college campuses and mission field. De­ velopment of a youth leadership program within the local church. Studyof extra-church organiza­ tions and parent-teen relationships and ministry emphasized. Elective. CE 671 YOUNG ADULT DEVELOPMENT AND EDUCATION (2) Survey of issues confronting young adults in contemporary life and opportunities for the church within the concept of ministry to assist those in young adulthood in meeting these issues. Special attention to the areas of single adults and single parents. Elective. CE 672 OLDER ADULT DEVELOPMENT AND EDUCATION (2) Focus on the gerontological needs (i.e. , phys­ iological , sociological , psychological) of older adults and on the opportunities for the church, within the concept of ministry to work with the community to assist in meeting these needs. Em­ phasis on the value of educational development and the older person's significance and need to contribute to the church body. Elective. CE 678 MIDDLE ADULT DEVELOPMENT AND EDUCATION (2) Astudy of issues and developmental tasks of adults in the middle years. Attention to the minis­ try of meeting the needs and utilizing the potentiai of mid-life adults. Elective. EDUCATIONAL PRINCIPLES, METHODOLOGY AND Includes private study as well as ensemble. CE 601 EDUCATIONAL MINISTRY IN THE CHURCH (3) SPECIAL SKILLS CE 540 APPLIED MUSIC (1-2) Analysis of ministries of edification as they relate to the personal, the congregational and the administrative aspects of ministry with people of all ages. Focus is on the explanation of various methods and resources available for ministry and on the development of individual skills in com­ municating and leading in these ministries. Pre­ scribed for MA (C.E.), MA (M.F.M.), MA (Min.) and M.Div. (C.E.) major students. CE 621 PHILOSOPHY OF MINISTRY I (2) Investigation into the theological, historical and philosophical foundations which underlie Christian ministry. Designed to aid students in forming a foundation in which to respond to crucial issues in ministry. Prescribed for M.A. (C.E.) and M.A. (M.F.M.) students. CE 622 PHILOSOPHY OF MINISTRY II (2) Investigation of current practices of ministry through an analytical perspective. Designed to help the minister evaluate ministries and respond with remedial or enrichment strategies. Prerequi­ site: CE 621 or equ ivalent. Prescribed for M.A. (C.E.) and MA (M F.M ) students.

CE 633-634 PRINCIPLES OF RESEARCH I & II (1 , 1) Basic methods of educational research with assessment of each method for use in religious education. Introduction to statistical measure­ ments. Formulation and implementation of re­ search projects in ministry situations. Prerequi­ site: CE 633 is prerequisite to CE 634. One hour lecture and one hour laboratory required per week. Prescribed for all MACE students. CE 638 CURRENT TRENDS IN CHRISTIAN EDUCATION (2) Identifying and understanding those issues which are of primary concern to the field of Christian education today. Opportunity will be provided for individual and group research in areas of personal concern. The course will investi­ gate current educational trends, alternative church education patterns and new forms of ministry. Elective. CE 641 RELIGIOUS DRAMATICS (2) The place and value of religious drama. Crite­ ria for play selection and reading in the field. Elements of production with practical ways of making lighting equipment, costumes and set designing. Elective. CE 642 LEISURE, RECREATION AND THE CHURCH (2) Exploration into the biblical concepts of lei­ sure and the use of leisure time. Patterns of recreational and social activities in the local church. Leadership development in recreational skills. Elective. CE 644 MUSIC IN THE CHURCH (2) The place of music in the church 's program. Criteria for the selection of appropriate music. Techniques for leading music and teaching var­ ious groups. The relationship of music to worship , instruction and fellowship . Elective. CE 648 RELIGIOUS JOURNALISM (2) The fundamental principles and basic forms of writing. Attention to writing for newspapers, de­ nominational and interdenominational publica­ tions, radio and television. The writing of drama for Christian magazines. The value, principles, planning and promotion of church publicity. The place of public relations in the life of the church. Practice in preparation of bulletins, news releases, promotional letters and display advertising. Em­ phasis on direct mail, radio and television. Elec­ tive. CE 649 INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGY (2) Administration of the audio-visual program for the local church. Methods for use of materials for various age levels. Study of equipment and source materials, principle and practices. Elective. CE 720 COLLEGE TEACHING PROCEDURES (2) Consideration given to the various philosophies of education, theories of learning, the factors that influence learning at the undergraduate and graduate level. Emphasis given to becoming a more effective teacher. Variables in motivation, retention , transfer and high level thinking will be discussed. Asupervised classroom teaching expe­ rience is required. Prescribed for Th.M. students.

CE 521 PSYCHOLOGICAL FOUNDATIONS OF CHRISTIAN MINISTRY AND LIFESffiE (3) Investigation into the major issues of educa­ tional psychology including growth and develop­ ment, learning theory, motivation, individual dif­ ferences, self-concept, human nature, determin­ ism, social interaction, maladjustment, discipline, moral influence and retention. Discus­ sion of the major theories and theorists of psy­ chology. Integration of theology and psychology an emphasis. Also investigation into personality development as it relates to Christian growth and lifestyle. Prescribed for M.A. (C.E.) students. CE 550 LIFE SPAN DEVELOPMENT IN MINISTRY (3) A survey of human developmental research with attention given to physical , cognitive, socio­ emotional , moral , and faith aspects as they all relate to spiritual development as a basis for a holistic Christian education ministry. Prescribed for MACE program. CE 557 MORAL AND FAJTH DEVELOPMENT IN MINISTRY (2) An advanced study of the leading theories of moral and faith development with attention di­ rected toward implication for intentional educa­ tion ministries that develop a Biblical values sys­ tem. Prescribed for reduced MACE program. CE 623 TESTS AND MEASUREMENTS IN EDUCATION (2) Theory of testing and the functions of mea­ surements in religious education. Supervised practice in the use and interpretation of specific tests and measurement devices relevant to the educational program of the church. Elective. CE 625-626 MINISTRY THROUGH SPECIAL EDUCATION (2, 2) Educational procedures useful in Christian in­ struction of the deaf and blind (625). An intensive study and survey of the mentally retarded and the emotionally disturbed as well as the gifted, with emphasis upon educational techniques and methodology (626). The development of a pro­ gram of Christian education within the local church a major portion of the course. Elective. CE 651 EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT AND EDUCATION (2) The child from birth to age five years with emphasis on parental education within the church, implication of development for Christian education and organization of church ministries related to preschool education. Consideration giv­ en to basic teaching and ministering skills. Elec­ tive. CE 653 CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT AND EDUCATION (2) The child from age six to 12years with empha­ sis on development of moral and religious values, cognitive processes and social relationships. In addition, an analysis is made of home and church ministries related to childhood education. Em­ phasis given to basic teaching and ministering skills. Elective.
