Praxis in lead­ ership for major educational functions for various age levels. Aminimum of I00 hours field involve­ ment per semester. Prerequisite: 48 units of class mrk. CE 673 BIBLICAL FOUNDATIONS OF THE FAMILY (2) Relating biblical teachings about marriage, family and human relationships to the nuclear and extended families , early marriage and parenting skills. Prescribed for M.A. (M.F.M.) stu­ dents. Elective. CE 675 FAMILY LIFE EDUCATION IN THE LOCAL CHURCH (4) Objectives, organization and administration of a program of family life education in the local church. Includes an analysis of current trends in family life education. Prescribed for M.A. (M.F.M.) students. CE 715 FOUNDftJIONS OF SINGLE ADULT LIFE CYCLE (2) Astudy of the history and current trends of the non-family household. Special emphasis on the single adult developmental life-cycle, identity and needs. Attention to the non-family household im­ pact on church ministries currently and in the future. Elective. CE 716 MINISTRY TO SINGLE ADULTS (2) Investigation of single adult ministries in the context of the local church. Emphasis in the development of an effective single adult ministry. Various proven and experimental models of single adult ministries will be examined. Elective. CE 722 COUNSELING TROUBLED FAMILIES (2) Acomparison of positive and negative family systems in Scripture, in theory and in church life. The development of a team approach to interven­ tion, enrichment and equipping for ministry to families. Prerequisite: CE 603 , 628 and 675 or their equivalents. Prescribed for M.A. (M.F.M.) students. Elective. INDEPENDENT PROGRAMMING CE 570 SPECIAL STUDIES IN CHRISTIAN EDUCATION (2) Designed for students who desire a specific course content not covered in any of the regularly offered classes. Content selected op the basis of need and will differ from semester to semester. Admissions to the course and the content of the course will be by advisor's approval. May be taken twice with different emphasis. CE 636-637 INDEPENDENT STUDY (1-2, 1- 2) In-depth investigation of a topic under the guidance of the Christian education department using standard research procedures. Topic selec­ tion and course enrollment is by advisor's approv­ al. Elective. CE 691 EDUCATIONAL INTERNSHIP (1) Structured field experience in a CE ministry field site with an approved supervisor focusing on the development of students' spiritual gifts and personal skills applied to teaching the Bible. Pre­ scribed for the M.A. (CE) 68 unit program only. CE 692 EDUCATIONAL INTERNSHIP (1) Structured experiences in a CE ministry field site with an approved supervisor focusing on lead­ ership development including assessing needs, setting goals, planning strategy, implementing programs and evaluating programs. Prescribed for the M.A. (CE) 68 unit program only

CE 730-731 CREATIVE PERSONALITY FOR MINISTRY (2, 2) Development of a more creative personality and lifestyle. Emphasis given to creative personhood, problem solving and presenting. Study into the value of creativity in the ministry. One or more sections may be offered each year COUNSELING AND FAMILY MINISTRIES CE 560 PERSONAL AND INTERPERSONAL DEVELOPMENT (2) Emphasis on personal and interpersonal growth through individual assignments and small group interactions. Opportunity given for spiritu­ al , physical , emotional, mental and relational development. Required of™> year M.A.C.E. stu­ dents. CE 603 COUNSELING MINISTRY IN THE CHURCH (4) The ministry of counseling in church context. First consideration given to the strengths, weaknesses and unresolved issues of the counselor. Focus of the course on skills in developing rela­ tionships, facilitating realization and encourag­ ing responsible living. Attention given to crisis counseling as well as issues such as building a counseling ministry team. Prescribed for M.A. (C.E) and MA (M.F.M) students. CE 605 SMALL GROUP LEADERSHIP (Same as PT 724) (2) Roles of small groups in the church in provid­ ing fellowship , mutual ministry and edification. Skills for organizing and leading groups. Intro­ duction to dynamics of small group interaction. CE 618 PSYCHOPATHOLOGY AND ASSESSMENT (3) with different emphasis. MINISTERIAL An overview of various models of psycho­ pathology and introduction to some of the tools of personality assessment with the goal of being able to determine which people to work with and which to refer to other helpers with more special­ ized training. CE 620 PREMARITAL PREPARATION AND COUNSELING (2) Counseling techniques applied to dating and courtship, engagement and premarital adjust­ ments. Principles and structures of premarital counseling are stressed and demonstrated. Em­ phasis on the use of 1JTh, Prepare and Family History analysis. Prerequisite: CE 603 or permis­ sion of professor. Elective. CE 628 MARRlAGE AND FAMILY COUNSELING (4) Advanced course dealing with problems and conflicts within marriage and family settings. Counseling methods and practical behavioral methods from a scriptural context designed to meet problems and conflicts; conducted via dem­ onstrations, case studies and counseling involve­ ment. Prerequisite: CE 603 and permission from the department chairman. Prescribed for M.A. (M.F.M:) students. Elective. CE 629 GROUP COUNSELING AND THERAPY (2) Training in the principles of counseling and therapy in a group setting. The class itself used as a laboratory experience with the student partici­ pating both in the role of therapist and client. Prerequisite: CE 605. Elective.
