Partnership for Maternal and Child Health in Northern NJ The Partnership for Maternal and Child Health of Northern New Jersey (the Partnership) was a merger of three state child and
maternal health consortia in 2012. Licensed by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services, the Partnership serves as the lead planning agency for maternal and child health services in Northern New Jersey. The Partnership’s mission is to meet the healthcare needs of women, infants, and children in NJ while coordinating education, outreach, and advocacy through regional planning and collaboration. The consortium conducts extensive community outreach and educational programs for the consumers and healthcare providers in the state of New Jersey. The Partnership conducts awareness programs within the community through a variety of ways including small group discussions, special events, health fairs, and consumer-focused newsletters written in various languages, including English and Spanish. Programs for Parents start in life. PfP serves as the principal advocate for childcare services in Essex County. PfP links families seeking childcare and works to enhance the skills and activities of childcare providers so that children and families receive high-quality services in the areas of health, safety, and child development. PfP has evolved from a childcare resource and referral agency to an organization offering a full range of services, including professional training, technical assistance, home inspections, advocacy, and action, professional and family education, referrals, shares best practices, and access to available financial resources. One of the top 10 not- for-profits in New Jersey, PfP is now the largest agency of its kind in New Jersey. Puerto Rican Action Board PRAB) The Puerto Rican Action Board (PRAB), a New Jersey 501(C)3 nonprofit organization, is a comprehensive human services organization that offers early childhood, youth, family, and community services to over 30,000 individuals and families annually in New Brunswick, Middlesex County, and Central New Jersey. PRAB’s mission is to equip diverse individuals and families to achieve personal, family, and community development. As the Community Action Agency for Middlesex County West (since 2009), PRAB also addresses issues of poverty to change people’s lives, bring hope, and improve local communities. PRAB’s vision is that Central New Jersey is a healthy, diverse community with productive, self-sufficient, and socially responsible individuals and families. Programs for Parents (PfP) is a not-for-profit organization which works to ensure that children get the best possible
organization, formed in January 2000 and serves as a critical resource for women battling breast cancer. Because underserved women have the highest breast cancer mortality rate, the organization’s mission is to alert communities, families, and the media to the devastation breast cancer causes in the underserved community. The Bridge The Bridge is an agency that works to provide multifaceted services
designed to strengthen and support struggling young people and their families in the Irvington and Essex county area. Irvington is comprised of
a diverse population of approximately 54,312 individuals with 87% identifying as Black and 9% identifying as Hispanic, many of whom fall below the poverty line. Since its inception in 1972, The Bridge has grown and successfully expanded to provide multifaceted services designed to strengthen and support struggling young people and their families, while always maintaining at its core, the initial, underlying goal of providing alternative choices for young people struggling with the results of poor decisions and untoward circumstances in their lives. Township of Hillside Senior Recreation Center
The mission of the Senior Center is to provide social and civic engagement, maximize independence, address basic needs, and optimize physical and mental health and well-being for adults ages 60+. With year-long trips and activities the
center’s goal is to make sure seniors and their loved ones are engaged at any age. The Township of Hillside hosts a population of 21,404 and is in Union County. Approximately 53% of residents identify as Black or African American and 18% reporting as Hispanic or Latino.
