Master ofArts in Christian School Administration OBJECTIVES U pan completion of the Master of Arts in Christian School Administration, it is intended that the candidate know the attitudes and convictions which Christion schools seek to develop in their students; understand adminis trative duties and responsibilities; be acquainted with financial and legal require ments of Christian schools; understand supervision, counseling, curriculum develop ment and testing; and have practiced these competencies under the direction of experienced administrators. This program is designed to prepare administrators for Christian schools. It has been developed with the assistance of an advisory committee of Christian school leaders to meet the specific needs of their institutions. Candidates receive obroad preparation including courses in administration, supervision, counseling, finance and law, curriculum development, testing and philosophy - all of these specifically related to the Christian school. Bible and theology is required for those who lack preparation in these areas. The program combines theory with practice throughout, using field experience with the course work and as aculminating activity. It seeks to integrate Christian truth with all of the administrative theory and practice. This program is designed to be taken on a part-time basis so that it will be available to those who are employed full-time. Courses are offered in the late ahernoon and early evening both during the school year and in summer sessions. The program can be completed in two full years or four summers. Amaximum of eight units of electives and/or transfer credit may be accepted. Nine units of course load is considered full-time status for all graduate students. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS All applicants must hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited or recog nized institution and should have 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) grade point average. A combined score of 1000 for verbal and quantitative on the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) is required. A2.75 grade point average must be maintained to remain in the program. Evidence of success in teaching and of high moral character is also required. Application must be submitted on a graduate applicotion form. GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS Requirements for the degree include the successful completion of 32 semester hours of prescribed and elective courses and the passing of acomprehensive written examination covering the fields of study. Aminimum of 24 of the 32 required units must be completed in residency at Biola. The proiect in the Field Work course is to be written up as ashort thesis and deposited in the library to be part of agrowing contribution of the university toward improved Christian school education. Electives must be pertinent to the program. Amaximum of six units of 400 level education courses may be used as electives toward the degree. Prior approval is required. All degree requirements must be completed before the student may participate in the commencement ceremonies. A graduation petition must be filed one year in advance w.ith the graduate graduation counselor in the office of admissions and records.

Candidates for the master of arts degree will be required to take four graduate units of Bible and/or theology through Talbot School of Theology in place of the elective units if they have not had such courses. Prior approval is required. This requirement may be met by eight units of undergraduate Bible/Theology courses. These will not count toward the required 32 units for graduation, however.
