(3) COMPREHENSIVE EXAMINATIONS All students must poss oset of four doctoral-level comprehensive examinations covering the following oreos: l) psychological development; 2) psychological functioning; 3) psychologicol intervention; ond 4) psychology ond theology. These examinations ore given twice annually and serve as the major means of evaluating o student's suitability to continue studies toward the doctorate. The examinations may be token any time ofter completion of 75% of the course work and must be successfully completed prior to the Professional Qualifying Examina­ tion. Psy.D. students who elect the non-dissertation option toke oresearch proficiency exam as o fifth comprehensive examination. Only two retakes of the examination ore allowed. The dotes of the Comprehen­ sive Examinations ore specified in the Academic Calendar. (4) ADMISSIONS TO CANDIDACY Official condidocy for the doctorate signifies on advanced stage in the student's progress and is accompanied by oredefinition of fulltime enrollment which enables the student to place greater emphasis on his practicum experience, internship and dissertation, and less emphasis on formal coursework . In order to be admitted to candidacy the student must hove (o) Successfully completed the Preliminary Oral Interview (b) Passed the Comprehensive Examinations (c) Received approval of dissertation proposal by his Doctoral Committee. (d) Completion of training therapy.

Integration Seminars: All students participate in o series of six seminars (14 units) devoted to the integration of o variety of theologicol and psychological concepts in research, theory and practice. Dissertation Research Students in Rosemead's Psy.D. track may fulfill the research component of their program either by writing o dissertation or by successfully completing oresearch consumership sequence (5 units) which includes o year-long doctoral research seminar, ocritical review of research literature on o clinical topic and a proficiency examination for consumers of clinical research. The major doctoral degree requirements ore summarized below (2) PRELIMINARY ORAL INTERVIEW AND ADMISSION TO DOCTORAL STUDY All students have an oral interview with a faculty committee to evaluate their progress and potential for successful completion of the doctoral program. This interview is scheduled after the completion of three semesters in residence, including at least one practicum assignment. The results of this interview ore reported to faculty which votes either to admit, admit with conditions, or not to admit the student to doctoral study.

·For students with undergraduate coursework in social and physiological psychology. Students without undergraduate social psychology will take RPSY 608, Social Psychology, instead of RPSY 702, Social Psychology: Interpersonal Processes. Students without undergraduate physiological psychology will toke RPSY 607. Psychophysiological Processes instead of Neuropsychology or Psychophormocology. These alternative courses will generally be token during the spring of the second or third year.
