APPLICATION INFORMATION Correspondence concerning admission should be addressed to the university office of admissions and records, which will supply the applicant with the proper forms. When these applicot1on forms and all transcripts of previous academic training have been filed, accompanied by one photograph and oS25 application fee, an admissions decision will be mode. Official notification of the decision will be sent by moil to the applicant. Applications must be filed at least one month before new student orientation for the semester when entrance is planned in order to avoid an increased application fee of S35 instead of b25. Talbot School of Theology desires only qualified students and personnel who ore committed to Jesus Christ However, in the admission of students, the hiring of employees or the operation of any of its programs and activities, Talbot does not discriminate on the basis of the oppiicont's race, color, sex, handicap or national or ethnic origin. Inquiries concerning this policy may be addressed to the seminary compliance director for Title IX. Entrance requirements for each program ore listed an the page describing that program under the heading, Admission Requirements. ADMISSION OF INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS AND RESIDENT ALIENS English Proficiency: It is essential that students from other countries be able to understand directions and lectures in English and also to be able to express their thoughts clearly in spoken English immediately upon arrival on campus. In order that the applicant's proficiency in English may be determined, the applicant must take the Test of English as a Foreign language (TOEFl) as administered by the Educational Testing Service ot the nearest overseas examination center. The minimum score for admission is atotal of 550 for the graduate student (and oscore of 55 or above for each of the three sections). For additional information see page 13 of the university or graduate catalog. Accepted students will also be required to take the English Diagnostic Examina tion during orientation, prior to beginning their first semester. This examination will be waived for applicants who score a minimum of 600 on TOEFL PRE-SEMINARY STUDY The following pre-seminary study guidelines ore recommended for students who ore planning to attend Talbot The student should plan his or her collegiate curriculum so that moderate competence will be possessed in all of these areas and skills developed so that one con communicate easily, having the ability ta write and speak clearly with correct English prose. The library contains over 185,000 volumes, including bound iournols and microforms with their respective readers. MARRIED STUDENT HOUSING Recognizing the particular needs of Talbot women students, o Women's Concerns Coordinator seeks to develop on awareness of those needs among students, faculty, administration and staff. The Coordinator is ovoiloble to counsel women students and to develop strategies for addressing their concerns. Assistance is also provided in placing women in ministry for Field Education and following graduation. Seminary Wives Fellowship meets weekly during the school year to promote spiritual growth and fellowship among the wives of seminarians. The program emphasizes personal development, commitment ta ministry, preparation for service, and leadership skills. Meetings ore held on the Campus. EMPLOYMENT While Biolo University cannot guarantee employment, we hove observed that prayer and God's guidance hove miraculously provided employment for our students in post years. Students should apply to the university student employment office (Metzger Holl, first floor) . We will make every effort to assist you by referring you to employment positions when available, commensurate with your qualifications and in conformity with your daily class schedule. TALBOT SEMINARY WIVES FELLOWSHIP Students may also secure off-campus secular employment in owide variety of occupations. local offices of the State of California Deportment of Employment con be very helpful in the location of these iob openings. The placement office (see next item) con sometimes assist the student in securing port- or full-time employment in local area churches. PLACEMENT The placement office works closely with students to assist them in securing port lime internship positions in local oreo churches. These placements ore an integral aspect of the field education practicum sequence of courses. The placement office also provides career counseling for students and placement information for graduating seniors and alumni seeking ministry in fields of service to which they believe that the lord hos coiled them. The placement director along with the placement committee works closely with denominational and interdenomina tional Christian leaders.
