(6) Appear for a personal interview with the Admissions Committee or its representative. Arrangements are made by the committee following oprelimi nary screening of applications. Only those who are finalists in Rasemead's admissions procedure, determined by the preliminary screening, will be scheduled for a personal interview. For finalists from the general southern California area, interviewsare held on campus at La Mirada. Arrangements will be mode by the chairperson of the Rosemead Admissions Committee for those outside the southern California area. Interviews are conducted in anumber of cities throughout the country, generally in February. Anon-refundable fee of $50 is due and payable following arrangements for the interview. It is the responsibility of the applicant to make sure that all application materials have been received. If there is any doubt, the applicant should write ta the university admissions office for verification. When oil application materials have been received, the school will send anotice to the applicant. If such anotice has not been received, it may be assumed that the application file is not yet complete. NOTICE OF DECISIONS The Admissions Committee will process applications as quickly as possible following the February 15 deadline, though time must be allowed for completion of personal interviews. Those whose applications do not pass the preliminary screening will be notified immediately. Certificates of Acceptance will be mailed an ar about April l . Information concerning the status of an application will not be given except by letter from the dean of administration following action by the Admissions Committee. Because of the large number of applicants, information cannot be given by telephone. In the event that an applicant has not heard from the committee by May .1 , written inquiry may be made. GENERAL ACADEMIC INFORMATION CLASSIFICATION OF STUDENTS Graduate psychology students meeting all entrance requirements will be classified as regular graduate students. Students who do not fulfill all entrance requirements may be admitted on a provisional status until they correct the deficiency. Any such deficienciesmust be removed with in one calendar year of a student's admission as a provisional student. It is only in rare instances that a student will be accepted on provisional status. Students will be classified in the program os follows: First year 30 graduate units or less completed Second year 60 graduate units or less completed Third year 90 graduate units or less completed Fourth year 120 graduate units or less completed Fifth year Class work completed and internship in progress Di ssertation (ABO) All requirements met except for dissertation Grading System Students wishing to obtain agraduate degree must maintain aconsistently high academic performance throughout their program. An overall 8average, i.e., 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, is required for all degrees. Only grades of "A", "8", "C" earn graduate credit. Grades of all students are recorded in the admissions and records office. A"W" indicates an official withdrawal from a course and does not affect the student's grade point average. A"UW" indicates an unofficial withdrawal. Students who register for aclass but do not attend it are automatically given the grade of "UW" which will influence the grade average the same as an "F." Atemporary mark of "RD" (Report Delayed) will be used in special cases af extreme hardship where an extension is warranted and approved by the dean. A student must appeal for an RD grade before the end of the semester. Such agrade incurred in one semester must be made up by the end of the first nine (9) weeks of the next semester or the grade will automatically become an "F." An "F" can be made up only by repetition of the course. Na grade other than an RD may be altered once it has been reported to the director of records unless an error was made in grading or recording. These changes con only be made upon written approval of the instructor, the director af records and the Committee on Admissions and Academic Qualifications. The following grades are also used in Rosemead recordswith special significance for the professional aspects of Rosemead's programs: S Satisfactory 0.00 paints AUD Audit 0.00 points R Dissertation research in progress 0.00 points IP Internship in Progress 000 points Academic Probation : Astudent foiling to maintain the minimum grade point aveage of 3.0 will be placed an academic probation. The following semester should the student not meet the minimum cumulative grade point average (3.0) they will automatically be dismissed. Academic Dismissal : A student may only be allowed a combination of two F's and/or two C's (understood to include both C + or C- ); athird "C" and/or "F" brings automatic elimination from the program. Credit by Examination and Course Validation No graduate credit in psychology will be given by examination or validation. Students who possess an excellent but non-tronscripted background in an area af study may, with the permission of the advisor and chair of the Committee on Academic Qualifications, validate by examination to receive awaiver for arequired course. No unit credit is given for such validation. Successful validation allows the student to take additional equivalent elective hours in the program. Time Limit for Degrees All course and academic requirements must be completed within four years for the terminal Master of Arts degree, and within eight years for the Psy.D and Ph.D. degrees, beginning on the date of the student's first registration for graduate study at Rosemead. Student Academic Load The normal full-time load for a Rosemead student in psychology is 12 to 15 hours per semester, but not less than nine hours. Without the advisor's approval, a student may not carry over 15 units in any semester. Part-time registration of less than nine units is permitted only after astudent has been admitted to candidacy. Rosemead does not admit part-time students to its degree programs. For full statement on satisfactory academic progress please see page 8. Pre-Internship and Dissertation Students Pre-internship, internship and dissertation (ABO) status students must continue ta register and pay the required feeseach semester appropriate ta their status (see fee schedule). Students in dissertation status who have completed their required units in dissertation research and all pre-internship students must register for three additional units each semester until the dissertation is completed. Transfer Credit Students in the master's program may, upon the approval of their advisor and the Committee on Academic Qualifications transfer up to nine semester hours of applicable graduate-level courses in theology and Bible from an accredited graduate school or theological seminary. Doctoral students may transfer up to 30 semester hours of applicable graduate-
