Psychotherapy Wboratory Courses This series of elective courses is designed to effect a working integrat ion of conceptual and ex­ perimental □ S P.eels of psychotherapy. Ph.D. students ore required to toke 12 units of PLB courses and Psy.D. students, 21 units. Eachcourse incl udesboth course work and supervised cl inical experience within the psychotherapy model followed in the speci fic course. Completion of RPSY 603, RPSY 500, and RPSY 690 or their equivalent is required before enrollment in these courses is permitted. Unless notified differenMy thestudent should be prepared to have a cl ient commensurate with the therapy being taught, (i.e., child, adolescent, adult, marriage and family). RPLB6Q5 BEHAVIORTHERAPY (3) The obserllllion, assessment and modificotion of human behavior, including operant, respondent and cognitive models. Emphasis is on supervised client interaction. Prerequisite: RPSY 604 and permission of instructor. Elective. RPLB 613 PSYCHOTHERAPY WITH THEADOLESCENT (3) Techniques and problems in psychotherapy with adolescen ts. Special attention is focused on the implications of developmental processes of adolescence on treatment approaches. Prerequisite: permission of instructor. Elective. RPLB 631 PSYCHODYNAMIC THERAPY (3) An in-depth study of the process of therapy giving special attention to the concepts of transference, counter-transference, resistance and interpretation. Prerequisite: RPSY 551 , participation in individual training therapy and permission of instructor. Enroll­ ment must be planned for bothRPLB 631 and RPLB 632. Elective. RPLB 632 PSYCHODYNAMIC THERAPY II (3) Continuation of RPLB 631. Prerequisites: RPLB631 and per­ mission of the instructor. Elective. RPLB635 PSYCHOLOGY Of EXCEPTIONAL CHILDREN (3) Assessment and treatment strategic for oil of the major hondicopping cotegories as currenriy defined by the Bureau of Education for the Hondicopped. Emphasis is on supervised client interaction. Prerequisite: RPSY 64 1. Elective. RPLB64 l PSYCHOTHERAPY WITH GROUPS (3) The essentials of the group psychotherapy process ore exam­ ined and related to cu rrent modalities in psychotherapy and general group phenomena. Elective. RPSY 642 PSYCHOTHERAPYWITH CHILDREN (3) The natureand treatment of common emotional and behavior­ al probl ems of ch ildhood from o psychoanalytic developmental perspective. Special attention is given ta parent counseling. Prerequisites: RPSY 604, RPSY 641 and permission of instructor. Elective.

RPLB643 BEHAVIOR MODIFICATION WITH CHI LDREN (3) The nature and treatment of commonemotional and behavior­ al problems of childhood from o learning theory perspective. Special attention ta parent counseling. Elective. RPLB. 653 VOCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND PSYCHOTHERAPY(3) Astudy of vocotianal development and 11Jcolionol choice os o point of focus in psychotherapy. Attention is given ta 11Jlues clorificotian, personality and adjustment factors, measurement of aptitudes and interestsand decision-making sk ills. Special consid­ eration is given to assessment tools, informational aids and supportive community resources within the context of integrating vacotionol development with professional psychalagicol practice. Prerequisites: RPSY 642 and permission of instructor. Elective. RPLB 671 MARITAi/FAMiLY EVALUATION AND INTERVENTION TECHNIQUES I (3) Astudy of the literature and practice of marital and family therapy, with emphasis on diagnostic procedures and the opplico­ tian of specific therapeutic techniques to dysfunction wi thin the marital dyad. The first semester emphasizes diagnostic interview­ ing in a clinic sett ing where students corry responsibility for psychological assessment, interviewing, report-writing and thera­ peutic recommendations in selected clients. Concurrent enrollment in o practicum offering opportunities for experience with couples and/or families is required. Prerequisite: RPSY 642 and permission of instructor. Elective. RPLB 672 MARITAi/FAMiLY EVALUATION AND INTERVENTION TECHNIQUES II (3) Continuation of RPLB 671. Major consideration will be given in the secondsemester to issues such as premarriage, communico­ lion, di11Jrce and sexual dysfunction os aspects of marital therapy. Concurrent enrollment in a practicum offering opportunities for experience with couples and/or families is required. Prerequisites: RPLB 671 and permission of instructor. Elective. RPLB 681 SPECIAL PROBLEMS IN PSYCHOTHERAPY I (2 or 3) An od11Jnced course in psychodynomic psychotherapy dealing with issues such os impairments of the therapeutic relationship, acting out, levels and timing of interpretations and psychotherapy with individuals suffering from disturbances in early object rela­ tionships. Prerequisites: RPLB 631 , RPLB632 and permission of instructor. Elective. RPLB 682 SPECIALPROBLEMS IN PSYCHOTHERAPY II (2 or 3) Continuation of RPLB 681 . Prerequisite: RPLB 681 and permis­ sion of instructor. Elective. RPLB 702 PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICES IN CASE SUPERVISION I (2-3) Aseminar in case supervision. Students ore responsible for supervising the professional experiences of less od11Jnced stu­ dents. Prerequisites: admission to doctoral studies and permission of instructor. Elective. RPLB 703 PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICES INCASE SUPERVISION II (2-3) Con tinuation of RPLB 702. Prerequisites: RPLB 702 and per­ mission of instructor. Elective. RPLB 705 BRI EF PSYCHOTHERAPIES (3) Models and approaches in brief interventions with special attention lo crisis intervention, emergency room work, os IWII os systems approaches (Wotzlowick, Holey, M. Erickson). Prerequi­ site: permission of instructor. Elective. RPLB 709 THERAPEUTIC APPROACHES TO SEXUAL DYSFUNCTION (3) This course focuses exclusively on clinicol approaches to assessment and therapeutic intervention in relation to sexual dysfunction within the marital dyad. Prerequisites: RPLB671, RPSY 607, RPSY 663 and permission of instructor. Elective.

RPLB 710 EXISTENTIAL PSYCHOTHERAPY(3) Study and practice of the therapeu tic relationship and the process of therapy from o growth or octuolizotion perspective, including the approaches of se lected theorists such as Rogers, Gendl in, Perls and selected existential therapists. Prerequisites: RPSY 55 l and permission of instructor. Elective. RPLB 711 ADLERIAN PSYCHOTHERAPY(3) The focus of this course is on the practice of psychotherapy based on the per·sonolity and family dynamics elaborated in Alfred Adler's Individual Psychology. Attention will also be given tomore contemporary views of such Adlerions as Dreikurs, Ansbacher and Ansbacher, Dinkmeyer, Masak and others. Prerequisite: RPSY 551. Elective. RPLB 715 CURRENT PSYCHOTHERAPIES (3) This course focuses each lime it is offered on o specific therapy not regularly included in Rosemeod's curri culum, including such approaches os Transactional Analysis, Gestalt Therapy, Psy­ chodrama, Rational-Emotive Therapy, Reality Therapy, and others. Teaching personnel ore drown from the professional communi ty of active practitioners of the specific modality to be considered. Prerequisites: as determined by the indivi dual instructor. Elective.
