Book (see p. T -24). Systematic theology moves toward a well organized and struc­ tured arrangement of biblical truth (see p. T-26). Historical theology engages itself to acquaint the student with the progress of the inerr-ant Wor-d among the household of faith throughout the Christian era (see p. T-30). Ph ilosophy of religion furnishes the elements whereby the servant of Christ may give a well-marshalled r-eason for the fa ith that is in him (seep. T -3I ). Missions, pr-act ical theology, and Christian education strive to p rfect in the student a skill fu l and winsome presentat ion of the truth privately and publ icly (see pp. T-30, 32, 34). Talbot stands for one faith, one in­ tegrated curriculum, one ternal Word of God and its effective proclamation to a modern generation w ith its multip licity of needs. PRACTICALLY. It is the purpose of the seminary to prepare for the Gospel minis­ tr-y those who believe, live and pr-each the great historic doctrines of the faith which has been committed to th church. To re­ alize these broad objectives, the seminary offers eight degree programs, each with it s own distinctiv purposes: The Master- of D 1v1nity program (seep. T -6). the Master of Arts program in ministry (see p. T-I I ), the Master of Arts programs in biblical and theological studies (see p. T- 12), the Mas­ ter of A rts program In Christ ian education (seep. T- 14), the Master of Arts program in Marriage and Family Ministries (see p. T ­ l 6), the Master of Theology program (see p. T- 17), the Doctor- of Ministry program (see p. T - 18), and the Doctor of Education program (seep T -20). Accreditation West ern A ssociation of Schools and Colleges. Talbot, as a graduate school of Biola University, is included within Biola Univers ity's accreditation by the Accredit­ ing Commission for Senior Colleges and Universiti es of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

Talbot Is a member of the Association of The­ ological Schools in the United States and Canada, the internationally recognized ac­ credi t ing body of semi naries and schools of divinity Recognit ion Agencies of the Un ited States Govern­ ment which recognize the t ra ining given at Talbot include I. The Un ited States Department of Health, Education and Welfare, Of­ fice of Education. II. The Chaplaincy Branches of th,2 Army, Navy and Arr Force. Fu :1- t ime seminary students ar-e eligible to apply for commissions as second lieutenants or ensigns in the chap­ laincy branches of the Ar-my, Arr Force or Navy, with eight weeks of active duty training optional during the summer vacation. A cou rse in chaplaincy orrentatron is offered by the department of practical theol­ ogy. Ill. The Veterans Administration. IV The Unrted States Department of Justice, Immigration and Naturaliza­ tion Service. Chapel Thirty minutes of each day, Tuesday through Friday, are set aside as a special period of worship in the chapel service. These services are conducted by the facul­ ty, visiti ng speakers and occasionally senior students. All services are designed to be worshipful and devotional in nature. Spiri ­ tual growth and fellowship are maintained and developed through these services. It is the purpose of Tal­ bot to develop in t he lives of its students a spiritual life which is in harmony with the great doctri nes taught, in order that they may grow in the grace as well as in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Specifically, the goal is to educate and graduate student s characterized by practical Christian service, missionary and evangelistic zeal and an adequate knowl­ edge of the Scriptures. To accomplish these objectives the seminary Conducts a daily chapel program and gives constant at­ tention to its students' service opportuni ­ ties. ACADEMICALLY. It is the pur-pose of the seminary to provi de its students with the best in theological education in order that they may be equipped intelligently to preach and teach the Word of God and present it zealously to the world. In keep­ ing w ith this goal, ever-y department is geared to emphasize the clear and accu­ rate exposition of the Scr iptures . The bibli­ cal languages are utilized to expose the in­ ner meaning of the insp ired text (see pp. T-27, 28).
