Athletics and Extra Curricular Activities
Appeals must be stated in writing to the

why an exception is warranted. Appeals must be received within t hree weeks of notification that the student is on academic probation or has failed to meet academic probationary requirements. Appeals which cannot be resolved with the admissions and records office will be referred to the Academic Standards Committee or the appropriate graduate faculty committee. Financial Aid Failure to complete the required units or ma1nta1n a grade point average as out lined 1n the Statement of Satisfactory Aca demic Progress wil l result in financial aid probationary status. Students will have one semester of financial aid probation. Failure to maintain satisfactory progress within the financial aid probationary period will result 1n forfeiture of aid for subsequent semes ters. Under these circumstances a student must demonstrate a minimum of one se mester of satisfactory progress before be ing eligible again fo1· financ ial aid consi der ation. Financial Aid Appeals Appeals must be stated in writing to the office of student financial services and must include explanation of why minimum aid requirements were not met and why an exception 1s warranted. Appeals must be received within three weeks of not ificat ion that the student is on financial aid proba tion or has failed to meet financial aid pro bationary requirements. Appeals which cannot be resolved with the office of stu dent fi nancial services will be referred to the Scholarship Committee.

In addition to competitive athletics, extra curricular activities include: student government. forensic teams, gospel teams, band, chorale, athletic clubs and other fac ulty sponsored organizations. Statement of Satisfactory Progress Full-Time Undergraduate Students Satisfactory academic progress toward a baccalaureate degree as a full-time under graduate student is defined as a student who completes 12 or more units per se mester or 24 or more units per academic year while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 2.0. Repeated courses previously passed cannot be counted to ward minimum satisfactory academic progress requirements. The student must complete the undergraduate degree re quirements within the period of time re quired when progressing at the minimum full-time rate. For example, an undergrad uate student 1n a degree program requir ing I 30 units progressing at I 2 units would have I I semesters to complet e the pro gram. Full-Time Graduate Students Satisfactory academic progress toward a graduate degree as a full-time graduate student is defined as a student who com pletes nine or more units per semester or I 8 or more units per academic year while ma1nta1n1ng the minimum cumulative grade point average specified by the graduate program requirements in which the stu dent is enrolled. Repeated courses pre viously passed cannot be counted toward minimum satisfactory academic progress requirements. The student must complete the graduate degree requirements within the period of time required when pro gressing at the minimum full-time rate. For example, a graduate student in a degree prngram requiring 96 units progressing at nine units would have II semesters to com plete the program.
Part-Time Students Satisfactory academic progress toward a degree for a part-time student is defined as a student who complet es five or more units per semester and maintains a cumula tive grade point average of at least 2.0 for the undergraduate and the minimum pro gram requirement for the graduate stu dent Repeated courses previously passed cannot be counted toward minimum satis factory academic progress requirements. The undergraduate student must complete the degree requirements within a maxi mum of three years beyond that required for a full -time student Exceptions Exceptions to these standards are dis cussed under any applicable degree pro gram. Academic Probation Any student. graduat e or undergrad uate, failing to maintain the minimum grade point average as outlined in the Statement of Satisfactory Academic Progress will be placed on academic probation. Should the student not meet the minimum cumulative grade point average at the end of two con secutive semesters of academic probat ion, the appropriate faculty committee will consider the student for academic dismiss al. Any undergraduate student taking six semester hours or more who receives less than a I :O current grade point average will be considered for academic dismissal. Graduate st udents car rying six semest er hours or more who receive a 2.0 current grade point average or less w ill be consid ered for academic dismissal.
