Biola as an institution has had a "heart" for Christian missions since its inception. The burden for the billions of non-Christians (3 billion plus today; 5 billion projected by the year 2,000) has been great. There has been an academic program at Biola stress­ ing mission interests for decades and this was brought to a high level of refinement under the leadership of Dr. Clyde Cook. Biola combines spiritual ministry with a high academic concep­ tualization that is realized through a strong faculty , a growing library facility, and emphasis on sound research to underlie the teaching program. Students can enrich their training in Bible, theology and psychology while at the School of Intercultural Studies and World Missions by taking coursework at Talbot Theological Seminary and School of Theology and Rosemead School of Psychology. They can also complete a specialization in lntercultural Studies and Missions within the Talbot degree pro­ grams and a specialization in lntercultural Studies within the Rosemead degree program. The School of Intercultural Studies and World Missions, in addi­ tion to its undergraduate work, offers graduate work leading to the Master of Arts and anticipates offering the Doctor of Missiol­ ogy and the Doctor of Philosophy degree in intercultural studies. OBJECTIVES The School of Intercultural Studies and World Missions was established: (1) to prepare missionary recruits from every nation with cross cultural communication skills for international service. (2) To provide missions the opportunity to encourae the personal and academic development of their overseas staff. (3) To prepare ministers and Christian education professionals for the types of
