ca. Prerequisite: Approval of the director of clinical training. RPSY 701 COLLEGE TEACHING OF PSYCHOLOGY (2) A seminar on teaching methods including the development of course objectives, outlines, lectures and evaluations. Major emphasis is placed on the examination of the various teaching methods available to the teacher of psychology . Elective . RPSY 703 ORGANIZATION AND ADMINISTRATION OF PSYCHOLOGICAL SERVICES (2) A seminar deal ing with administrative issues such as personnel , finances, community relations and supervision. Elective. RPSY 704 ADVANCED RESEARCH DESIGN (3) A continuation of PSY 601 for students interested in pursuing dissertation research . The course includes advanced study of univariate and multivariate analysis of variance, regression analysis, canonical and discriminant analysis and factor analysis. Required, Ph.D . only. Prerequisite: RPSY 601. RPSY 705 CLINICAL PSYCHOPHARMACOLOGY (2 or 3) A general overview of current research on the use and effective­ ness of psychotropic medication in the treatment of the psycho­ ses, neuroses and other emotional disorders. Consultation and class presentations by area psychiatrists. Prerequisite: RPSY 607 or equivalent . Elective . RPSY 709 CURRENT ISSUES IN PSYCHOLOGY ( l or 2) Intensive focus is given to a selected topic of contemporary interest such as the psychology of women , forensic psychology, National Health Care and psychological services. Elective. RPSY 710 SPECIAL TECHNIQUES IN CLINICAL PRACTICE (2) Intensive consideration of a specific technique utilized in modem . clinical practice and requiring specialized training. A single major technique , such as the Halstead-Reitan Adult Neuropsy­ chological Battery or clinical hypnosis, will be the focus each time this course is offered. Elective . RPSY 711 SEMINAR IN ETHICAL AND PROFESSIONAL ISSUES (2) A study of the ethics of professional psychology and relationships to other professional individuals and organizations. Special atten­ tion is given to the American Psychological Association ' s Code of Ethics. Required: Psy .D ., Ph .D . RPSY 712 INDEPENDENT STUDY (1-3) Individual work , directed reading or special problems in psychol­ ogy. Such work must be done with the approval and supervision of a factilty professor of record. The student is expected to submit a detailed course proposal and bibliography with a learning con- ~ tract form available from the registrar's office. Required courses may not be taken through independent study. Elective. RPSY 715 TRAINING THERAPY (GROUP) (0) For official indication on the student's transcript of requirerd personal growth experience through group training therapy. Required for all doctoral programs. RPSY 716 TRAINING THERAPY (INDIVIDUAL) (0) For official indication on the student's transcript of required personal growth experience through an individual training ther­ apy. RPSY 645 MEASUREMENT AND ASSESSMENT V: NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL (3) Examines the psychological, neurological and statistical bases of neuropsychology, including the two major systems of testing procedures utilized in assessment of brain impairment, the Halstead-Reitan and the Indiana-Luria Neuropsychological Examination. Interpretation and utilization of data in treat­ ment planning will also be considered. Prerequisites: RPSY 644 , RPSY 705, RPSY 707 . Elective. RPSY 660 FAMILY COMMUNICATION PATTERNS (3) Various styles and communication systems employed by families and the effects of such patterns upon interpersonal development. Elective. RPSY 661 MARITAL/FAMILY SYSTEMS I (3) Introduction to major theoretical and conceptual issues in relation to the organization of family systems, structural and subcultural variations in family life styles, mate selection, sexual norms and relationships and family rituals. Special emphasis is placed on the stages and developmental issues in the family life cycle. Elective. RPSY 662 MARITAL/FAMILY SYSTEMS II (3) This course lays the conceptual groundwork for a systems approach to intervention. Diagnostic issues and procedures in relation to family systems are integrated with a theoretical base for treatment strategies. Optimally functional (healthy) family systems are contrasted with dysfunctional (unhealthy) family systems. Students are required to research their own family of

origin (nuclear and extended). Elective. RPSY 663 HUMAN SEXUALITY (3)

An examination of the areas of human sexual functioning and behavior, relationships and feelings within the cultural milieu of today. Elective. RPSY 665-667 PRACTICUM (TERMINAL M.A.) (3) Supervised clinical experiences, including diagnostic and ther­ apeutic activities with inpatient and outpatient clientele. Hospi­ tals, private and public clinics, schools and college counseling centers are utilized . Required M.A. terminal students only. RPSY 670 NEUROPSYCHOLOGY (3) Consideration of behavioral and intellectual disorders of neuro­ logical origin. Clinical and experimental evidence is considered as they relate to the major syndromes. Prerequisite: RPSY 607 or equivalent. Required for Psy.D., Ph.D. RPSY 690 PREPRACTICUM (2) Primary interpersonal skills and counseling techniques are as­ sessed and facilitated prior to the student's first practicum field experience. Various training techniques are employed in a small group setting. These include empathy training, demonstra­ tions and audio-video feedback. Required: M.A., Psy.D., Ph.D. RPSY 691-696 PRACTICUM (3) Supervised clinical experiences including diagnostic and ther­ apeutic activities with inpatient and outpatient clientele. Hospit­ als , private and public clinics, mental health organizations , schools and college counseling centers are utilized. Prerequisite: successful completion of RPSY 690, or approval of the Profes­ sional Training Committee. Requiredfor all doctoral programs; Ph.D and Psy.D. RPSY 697-699 PRACTICUM ELECTIVE (1-3) For students desiring supervised clinical experiences beyond the requirements for their degree. These are used as elective practi- l 78
