are in serious straits just at this time, and their leaders are perplexed to know how the work is to be carried on. There is a great call also from the various missionary enterprises. It would be a blessed thing, if now that people are beginning to learn how to give, they would learn also the blessing of giving to God, and in remembrance of His Christmas gift to the world, make their Christmas gifts in large proportion to the cause of spreading the glad message of His salvation. The Bible Institute of Los Angeles is one of the institutions that stands in need of your prayers and your financial support. Which of its departments will you help? Training school for Christian workers (no tuition, sup­ ported by the gifts of God’s people) day and evening schools and correspondence courses; Evangelistic work in the oil fields, among the Mexicans, in shops and factories, in the homes by Bible women, among the soldiers and sailors, among the shop and store women, among high school students, in the prisons, in the foreign fields, cam­ paigns wherever its evangelists are called; Bible conferences; Colportage work; Christian literature publication department; The King’s Business Magazine (send it to some one who cannot subscribe). Take your choice, and we wish you all a blessed Christmas. Hite Rigkt Kind of Christmas Giving

Nine-tenths of the stuff that is usu­ ally given away at Christmas time is given out in a sense of obligation and the greatest portion of it amounts to nothing. Everyone receives Christmas gifts, that are not essential to their welfare, and often they would be better off if they did not receive them. The articles, many of them, are neither practical nor serviceable and the reci­ pient soon forgets the gift and the giver. If we are to give in commemoration of the great Christmas Gift, why not give something that will promote His ca'use and be a source of real uplift to the recipient? Why throw away the money with which God has entrusted us when there are so many opportuni­ ties about us right now to be a bless­ ing? The gift that does the greatest good and causes the giver to be remembered with genuine gratitude is the one that appeals to the inner life and is a means, through Christ, of bringing fullness of joy to the soul. Many people would study the Bible if they had a Bible that was readable, with practical and safe explanatory notes, such as are given in the Scofield reference Bible. Then there are so many spiritual helps in the way of good Scriptural books. Beautiful Scripture text wall mottoes or calen­ dars are usually welcome in any home, and they bear a testimony the year around; Be sure to read the advertise­ ments of the Biola Book Room for suggestions. Then, let us not forget the great needs of the Lord’s work in its many branches. Crowded out by the many war-time campaigns for money, there are not a few Christian institutions that
