sick girl’s room. Her mother asked if she knew who had called. She replied, “ It must have been Jesus.” Joseph Made Ruler of Egypt. Gen. 41: 33-44. (Read Ch. 39-41). Memory Verse. “ He that is faithful in that which is least, is faithful also in much.” Luke 16:10. Approach. (A true story.) There was a boy who lived back in Missouri on a farm, through which a stream of water flowed. One day there was a very heavy rain and t h i s BEGINNERS stream rose higher and ,AND higher until it washed PRIMARY away the railroad bridge. This boy and another boy saw the bridge as it broke away and floated down the stream, and right away he thought about a passenger train that would soon come that way, and he knew too that the engineer would not be able to stop the train when he got near enough to see that the bridge was gone. He began to think of some way in which he could stop the train, but to do so he had to get across the stream which was deep and the water was running swiftly. The other boy said he was foolish to risk his life swimming across the rough water, and that he was not paid to stop the train, but he did not stop at this, but started to swim across, and after a hard strug gle he reached the other bank, ran up on the track above the broken bridge just in time to stop the train. The peo ple and trainmen all saw the broken bridge and the rushing water below, and felt very thankful to this faithful boy who had risked his own life to save them. A few weeks later this boy received a letter from the office of the R. R. Co., offering him a good position with them, saying he had proved him self faithful in a hard place. In a few years when he was old enough, he took this position and remained with them until his death. He was faithful as a boy and was honored with this good

heard that thou canst understand a dream to interpret it,” i and Joseph answered, “ It is not in me. God shall give Pharaoh an answer.” People can not help trusting a girl who lives a life of dependence upon a close walk with God. When Joseph advised Pharaoh to appoint officers to store up the grain for seven years Pharaoh questioned whether there was a man capable of svtch a stupendous task and trustworthy enough as care taker of seven year’s provision of the land to be found in all Egypt. He said it must be one in whom the Spirit of God is, (41:38) and imme diately recognized in the following verses that Joseph was that man. Bring out from the following verses the height to which Joseph rose in the nation and lay special stress upon the reason for it and for his marked suc cess in every recorded incident of his life in Egypt. The reason is none other than that God was with him. Have the girls search Chapters 39, 40 and 41 for the many repetitions of “ God was with Joseph,” 39:2, 3, 5, 21, 23, 48; 41:16, 25, 28, 38, 39. These last three by inference. It is also significant to note how many times these chapters men tion Joseph’s prosperity and in connec tion with it the fact that God was with him. “ If God be for us who can be against us?” (Rom. 8:31). The reason that can be attributed to Joseph’s success was that God was with him. This fact was so conclusive of his life that Pharaoh could trust him with his signet ring and all the authority which he himself possessed. I know of no stronger illustration of the testimony of the life than we find in the chapters from which to-day’s lesson is taken. We may really ques tion whether Pharaoh knew ought of the three chapters in Joseph’s life that we have named above. At any rate, we know that he recognized God in. him as he stood in his court that day. Christ in the life gives a silent testimony to Himself. Murray Me had just left a
