5. The scores of the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) of the College Entrance Examination Board or the ACT must be submitted. Information regarding testing dates may be secured from a high school counselor. Applicants are encouraged to take the SAT or the ACT no later than the January testing date. SAT is preferred . Notification Certificates notifying applicants of their admission status are mailed on a rolling basis. Freshmen applicants with at least a 3.0 ("B") average through grade eleven and acceptable test scores may be notified of acceptance prior to receipt of their seventh semester transcript. Applicants who are granted acceptance are required to validate their acceptance by the payment of a non-refundable enrollment deposit of $50. Accompanying the certificate of acceptance will be a health form which must be properly completed by both the applicant and the applicant's physician. A medical consent form is also required of single students under the age of eighteen at time of entrance. Enrollment Deposit Applicants who have been granted acceptance are required to remit a $50 enrollment deposit which is retained in a special account to the student's credit until the final semester of enrollment. It will be applied to any balance owed at the time of departure, or will be refunded if the student's account is paid in full. This $50 enrollment deposit is retained as a continuing pre-registration deposit to assure the enrolled student of a place in the student body. Students currently enrolled who pre-register for the spring semester and fail to notify the registrar before December 31 that they do not plan to enroll for the spring semester or simply do not complete registration for the spring semester forfeit thi s $50. Students currently enrolled who pre-register for the fall semester and fail to notify the registrar before July 31 that they will not be enrolling or fail to appear for registration in the fall will forfeit this $50. Whether an individual is coming as a freshman or transfer student into Biota Coll ege through admissions or is a continuing student who has pre-registered it is important that Biola College be informed of any change in plans regarding enrollment. The enrollment deposit is non-refundable for accepted students who do not enroll. Transfer Students Transfer students must present the same application forms and transcripts as those applying for freshman standing. The transcript from the last school attended must bear the statement of honorable dismissal. The Office of Admissions and Records has final authority for the re lease of transfer credits into Biota College .

Admission to the college does not guarantee admission to the nursing programs, music programs, nor to on-campus housing. Application forms for these programs are available from the department offices. High School Record An applicant for regular standing must be a graduate of a recognized high school with a scholastic record (including SAT or ACT scores) which indicates ability to pursue higher education successfully. The applicant must have sixteen acceptable high school units (one unit equals one year in a course), twelve of which should be spread over the academic areas of English (3), social studies (2), mathematics (2), science (including a laboratory science) (1), foreign language (minimum of 2; recommend 4), and related areas. Prospective students interested in the nursing program must take chemistry and algebra in high school. Applicants are urged to have at least two years in one foreign language in high school. The applicant with four years of the same language in high school will not have to take any foreign language unless majoring in Bible which requires Greek. Those with no foreign language in high school or wishing to begin a new language in college to meet the general education requirement, must take twelve units (3 semesters) of a foreign language for most majors. Catalog information regarding each major will indicate any exceptions to this rule. Procedure The following must be filed in seeking admission : 1. The personal application form, including an identification picture. The application for admission must be accompanied by a $25 nonrefundable application fee. 2. An official high school transcript. The app li cant should request the high school to send this directly to the Dean of Admissions. 3. An official transcript sent directly to the Dean of Admissions from each school the applican t has attended since high school. This includes schools attended for even part of a semester. Those applying to the Education or Nursing programs should have two copies of each school's transcript sent. 4. Two personal references: one from the applicant's pastor or someone on the pastoral staff who knows the applicant and one from the school last attended or from an employer if the applicant has been out of school for at least one year and has been working.
