SPECIAL NOTE: All graduation requirements may be met within four school years by carrying approximately 16 or 17 units each semester. A student may still be graduated within four years if he wishes to take a lighter load and will enroll in summer school and/or intersession. Biblical Studies and Theology Requirement Biola College is committed to a strong Biblical emphasis. A firm foundation in the Word of God is imperative for all God's servants, regardless of what type of ministry they may enter. A total of 30 units of Biblical Studies and Theology must be included in the program of each student according to the requirements of the American Association of Bible Colleges. Each student must take at least one course each semester until he has fulfilled the requirement. The following are required:

must take and pass Basic English Workshop within the first year of

residence (before English 110). If a student wishes to challenge his SAT score he may take a Diagnostic Test administered by the English Department. If he fails this test, he must take Basic English Workshop.

Church and Last Things Elective in biblical or theological Studies 3 units Note: Students who select a liberal arts major may count only a total of 30 units of Biblical Studies and Theology toward the required units for a degree . The maximum limit for recognized correspondence courses in Bible is six units. Part-time students (less than 12 units per semester) are required to include at least one Biblical Studies and . Theology course within each 15 units completed at B1ola College unless the 30 unit requirement has been met. Part-time students seeking a degree from Biola College must complete the entire requirement as outlined above. General Education Requirement It is the purpose of the general education requirement to introduce the student to areas of study that mature the mind, open new vistas of appreciation and understanding, enrich social relationships, and develop skills and aptitudes that can aid the student in furthering his personal and social usefulness . Since it is the purpose of a liberal arts education to create a broad base upon which to build one's continuing education, the student is allowed to select from the following courses to build his own base in the liberal arts. Students with two years of a high school language must take the 102 and 201 sections of the same language in order to complete the BA requirement. If the student needs to review prior course work he should either audit 101 or forfeit all previous language experience by taking the first semester course for credit. Exceptions to this policy are noted under the appropriate departments, (please note the unit difference per semester for classical languages). International students for whom English is a second language need not take a foreign language. (If you take Greek for your language and are not a Bible major, you must take through the 102 level for aB.S.)
