REFUNDS Inasmuch as faculty engagements and other commitments are made by the college for the entire year in advance, the following refund schedule has been established in order that the college and the student may share the loss equitably when it is necessary for a student to withdraw from school: Withdrawal within the first two weeks of classes. 1. Tuition-full amount, less $50.00 (Students with six or fewer units, $25.00; Auditors, $20.00). 2. Board-pro-rated as of end of week in which meal ticket is turned in to cashier. 3. Room-pro-rated as of end of the month in which student withdraws. Withdrawal after the second week and before the end of the eighth week of classes: 1. Tuition-pro-rated as of end of week in which student withdraws. 2. Board-same as above. 3. Room-same as above but pro-rated by the week if room is re-rented before end of month. Withdrawal after eighth week of classes: 1. Tuition-no refund. 2. Board-same as above. 3. Room-same as above. Intersession and Summer School refund policy: 1. Room is pro-rated to the end of the week of official withdrawal. 2. $20.00 of the tuition charge is considered a registration fee and is non-refundable. 3. Per/ unit refunds are subject to the following schedule: -1st week - complete refund, except $20 registration fee . -In a 2 week course - no refund the 2nd week. -In a 3 or 4 week class, 30 per cent refunded during the 2nd week, none thereafter. -In 5 week classes, 58 per cent the 2nd week, 30 per cent the 3rd week, none thereafter. Tuition refunds for class changes (where applicable) will be made in the same manner as refunds for withdrawals (i.e. - full refund within first two weeks of classes and pro-rated refund after second week until end of eighth week). All refunds must be requested by properly completing and submitting a Departure Card, the official withdrawal date determining the amount of refund. Laboratory and activity fees are refundable only if withdrawal is on or before the final date of late registration . Music Fees are for private music lessons and are refundable in the same manner as tuition, except no refund after the 6th week. FINANCIAL AID INFORMATION It is the desire of Biola College, within the limits of its resources , to provide financial assistance to all needy students, especially those who, without such aid, would not be able to attend Biola College. The Office of Student Financial Services offers counseling and
assistance in ascertaining the most appropriate forms of financial aid for each student. Most financial aid awards are based on demonstrated financial need. Biola College does not discriminate on the basis of sex, race , color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its scholarship and loan programs. APPLICATION FOR AID Students may apply for financial aid by filing a Student Aid Application for California (SMC) or a Financial Aid Form (FAF) and Biola Student Assistance Application. In both cases, " Biola College - CSS Code 4017" should be included in the appropriate sections. All California residents are expected to apply for one of the Cal Grant programs, using the SMC. First time applicants will also need to file the appropriate Cal Grant Supplement(s). Renewal supplements will automatically be mailed to those eligible for renewal. Basic Grants may be applied for by completing the appropriate section of the SMC or FAF. Departmental applications for scholarships (for music, athletics , art and forensics) are available from departments only. For example, write to the Chairman , Music Department, Biola College . Note: New financial aid applications need to be filed for each academic year. When to File? The following deadlines have been established for the various aid programs: Cal Grant Program - New Applicants: Feb. 1 - Renewals: Late March College Aid - All Applicants: Mar. 1 * * April 1st is the college application deadline. However, the SMC or FAF will need to be filed by March 1st to allow for adequate processing time. Late applications will be processed as time and funds permit. TYPES OF AID AVAILABLE Scholarships All financial aid is awarded for the academic year, and one half is applied to a student's school account each semester (unless stated otherwise). Students enrolled for only one semester are entitled to only that semester' s award. Awards are made by the Scholarship Committee to students meeting academic and personal requirements. Scholarships ranging from $200 upward are given for a period of one year , and in most cases are renewable if the student continues to meet requirements and funds are available. Bio/a Scholarships include academic, honor, meritorious service, and presidential awards. Academic: $200 to $1000. 3.3 G.P.A. required , and SAT scores of at least 800
or equivalent ACT scores; based upon academic achievement and financial need. Honor: One-half tuition annually to each recipient.
