needs of Biola's commuter students through a program involving student Commutor Advisors . Facilitating the relationships between the commuter student and the college and between the student and his community is a prime concern of this program. The unique needs of the married student are considered along with those of the single student. Housing and car pooling information are also available in the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs. The college has an on-campus lounge for commuter students. DISCIPLINE Biola College is dedicated to the training of young people who are sincere and earnest in their desire to live for Jesus Christ. Because this is true , students are expected to give evidence of conduct consistent with such a profession. The disciplined life is consistent with the Biblical model for a Christian. By enrolling in the college each student is entering into an agreement with the college to be responsible for certain details of activity and conduct. This agreement is explained in a "Statement of Rights and Responsibilities" which every prospective student receives as a part of the admissions process. Students whose attitudes prove to be uncooperative are asked to withdraw from the college. STUDENT HEALTH SERVICES Biola College offers a Health Service for all registered students. This service is under the direction of an on-campus physician with a scheduled sick call every morning and every afternoon, Monday through Friday. A medical consent form must be signed by parent or guardian for all unmarried students under eighteen years of age. This consent does not take away a student's privilege of choosing his own medical care. Students carrying 7 units or more are required to have physical examinations prior to coming to Biola College. These records must be complete and on file with the college physician. Biola offers protection to the student against certain expenses caused by accident, injury, or emergency illness in the form of a required plan of medical insurance. The cost of this insurance is subject to change from time to time by the company. Biola does not assume any responsibility for serious illness or accident on or off campus, in or out of college games or activities. The use of school facilities is at the student's own personal risk. CAREER PLANNING AND PLACEMENT Biola College offers assistance to graduates and current students in the area of career development through the Career Planning and Placement Office. Counseling, testing, job search seminars and career days are some of the programs which exist to help students learn about themselves, occupational opportunities, and how to plan and influence their future. The office has a number of resource materials

Student Activities

DEVOTIONAL LIFE The college believes the spiritual life of the individual student in the midst of a program of study to be of utmost importance. Therefore, every student is urged to set aside time, both morning and evening for personal devotions. In addition to these personal devotional periods, students meet daily, Monday through Friday, for a half-hour chapel service with worship and praise as the primary purpose. The chapel programs include speakers chosen from faculty , alumni, students and visiting guests, musical groups, Christian films, drama , and other special events. Each fall , soon after classes are in progress, there is Spiritual Emphasis Week. Once each semester the school observes a planned Day of Prayer, and informal prayer groups meet as a regular part of dormitory life. The Torrey Memorial Bible Conference and the Missionary Conference are high points in the development of the spiritual life of the student. Attendance is required at all of these events. ASSOCIATED STUDENTS The Associated Students is the student government of Biola College in which all students registered for seven units or more are members. The Associated Students has as its stated purpose: to promote the interests and welfare of the students, to coordinate student activities, and to provide leadership which will work to present each student perfect in Christ. The representative power of the student membership is vested in the Associated Students Council. The A.S. Council is composed of twelve members who work together as a team to carry on the functions of the government. The Council includes the A.S. President, Chapel Board Chairman , SMU President, Student Services Board Chairman , Social Activities Board Chairman, Athletic Board Chairman, Publications Board Chairman, Biola Men President, King's Daughters President, Controller , Special Counsel to the President, and Secretary. All of these , with the exception of the Special Counsel and the Secretary, are voting members. Members of the A.S. Council are responsible for all formalized dialogue with the administration and faculty of the college. They gather weekly to discuss business, resolve conflicts, and initiate programs. All students are welcome to attend and participate in all ri?gular meetings of the Council. Council members have their offices located on the upper level of the College Union Building. Tuition fees paid by graduate students do not include membership in the Associated Students.
