Donald is now a board member at Green Built Alliance (GBA), a regional nonprofit that advances sustainable building across Western North Carolina. Though Nicholson and Sun is a smaller builder, their influence has been outsized. "We’ve built the most net-zero homes and the most high-certification homes within the GBA network," Donald shares. "That’s shown me my role. I think the GBA can be a platform to distribute the ethos of Nicholson and Sun --to share techniques and methods that all builders should be using." He sees GBA as a hub for education, transparency, and leadership. "They can be real leaders in helping both builders and consumers understand what the right investments are to address climate change." 75
