"I thank God for the solid foundation I received at Talbot and unhesitatingly recommend Talbot Theological Seminary to those who are seriously interested in missions. The solid foundation in the Word and professors with both the academic and field experience necessary to be quality teachers, make the missiological education at Talbot unique." Dr. Clyde Cook, President Talbot Alumnus Master of Arts Program in Missions PHILOSOPHY OF THE MISSIONS PROGRAM

The M.A. degree with emphasis in missions is designed for those who are already in an intercultural missionary situation. It will make available academic updating and an advanced degree for furloughing missionaries, nationals and others whose principal missionary work would be in the area of service missions (e.g., doctors, pilots). The degree is not designed for professional service (as is the M.Div.), though those engaged in professional ministries may find it advantageous to pursue such study. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS (a) All applicants must have graduated from an accredited college with a minimum grade point average of 2.6 (on a 4.0 scale). Those from approved non-accredited colleges must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 to be granted acceptance without provisions. (b) All must submit a written statement outlining their voca tional objectives and how the degree might relate to those objectives. (c) All must have had a minimum of two years of intercultural experience. Experience in intercultural missionary service is recognized to be a reinforcement of undergraduate stud ies as preparatory to graduate study. Exceptions may be made for nationals and those whose principal work will be in the area of service missions (e.g., doctors, pilots). GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS (a) ·satisfactorily complete 62 semester units as outlined in the program. (b) Submit an acceptable thesis chosen in consultation with the major advisor. Two unbound copies are to be submit ted to the librarian. All theses, whether acceptable or not, become the property of Talbot Seminary. (c) At least 24 units must be taken at this seminary. (d) Complete the program in no more than five years. Excep tions may be made in cases where furlough time is not sufficient to complete the program in five years.
