Department of Biblical Studies and Theology Robert Morosco, Ph .D., Chair FACULTY Professors: Kurtaneck , Mitchell Associate Professors: Flory, Morosco Assistant Professors: Kirk , Shoemaker , Grigsby Instructors: Chute, Curtis , Moore , Pierce Objectives: Coursework in the department of biblical studies and theology is central to the Biola University curriculum. Upon completion of any degree program , it is intended the student will be acquainted with biblical content through the grammatico­ historical method of interpretation; have a grasp of the major doctrines of the Word of God and have a greater spiritual matur­ ity , which will enable the student to serve the Christian commun­ ity effectively. Department Major: Biblical studies and theology majors must take all of the general Bible requirements , excluding the three­ unit elective . In addition , each major will choose an area of emphasis and complete the required courses therein . OLD TESTAMENT EMPHASIS: Majors desiring to place a stronger emphasis in.Old Testament studies are required to take the following courses: Old Testament Theology (OT 450), nine units upper division Old Testament electives from the following courses: 300, 310, 430 or 440 ; three units upper division New Testament elective; History 304 , 321 , Hebrew 101-102 and 201-202, Greek 101-102. NEW TESTAMENT EMPHASIS: Majors desiring to place a stronger emphasis in New Testament studies are required to take the following courses: New Testament Theology (NT 450) , 12 units upper division New Testament courses as follows: three units in the gospels , three units in the epistles and six units open electives; Romans (NT 320) ; History 304 , 321 , 324; three units upper division Old Testament elective; and Greek 101-102 and 201-202.
