Most people today are willing to show kindnesses and favors if they can get some kind of compensation for it. —o— Grace triumphs in human helplessness: the tendency in man is to turn away from those who are helpless.

I. The Test of Faith 1. They were in bondage. Jud. 6 :1. (a) Because of disobedience. Jud. 6 : 1 . 2. God chose the weakest instrument (Jud. 6:15) for'delivery. (a) “My strength is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Cor. 12:9. (b) “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Phil. 4:13. II. The Teaching Faith 1. The true messenger gives evidence that he is sent of God. Jud. 6:17; Mk. 16:20; John 13:35. 2. As the body is nourished by food, so must faith be nourished by evidence of the supernatural. Jud. 6:17; 6:21, 23, 36-40. (a) “That ye may know.” Mk. 2:5-10. III. The Trials of Faith 1. The enemy on all sides. Jud. 7 :1. 2. There was danger of pride and trust ing in their own strength. Jud. 7 :2. 3. There was danger of fear and dis couragement. Jud. 7:3; Num. 32:9. IV. The Triumph of Faith 1. Chosen of God ( “By these three hun dred.” Jud. 7:7). Isa. 41:9; Acts 9:15. 2. Led by the Spirit. (a) “Arise, get thee down.” Jud.7:9. “Go . . . Lo, I am with you.” Matt. 28:19, 20. 3. They went in obedience to God’s re vealed plan. Jud. 7 :16-25; Heb. 8:5. (a) “If any man will do His will, he shall know.” John 7 :17. 4. They were victorious. Jud. 7 :25; 2 Cor. 10:4, 5. The work of grace remains absolutely unrecompensed in spite of those who are trying to pay for their salvation.
Grace is infinite love expressing itself in infinite goodness.

Where the work of grace has been im parted to the believer by the Spirit of God it will be manifested in his life. —o— A true manifestation of the work of grace is a reproduction of the life of Christ made possible by the indwelling Spirit. Good works that are in harmony with pure grace are done in recognition of God’s blessing received. *—------------------- j---------------------- SENTENCE SERMONS * --------------------------------------- If you find yourself wearing a spirit of heaviness, try a garment of praise. It is only the bright and joyous soul that can win souls to Christ. — o — Far too many do their work to be seen of men, forgetting that it is to God we are to give an account.
