not received the Holy Spirit, he is not a child of God (Rom. 8 :9). Just as the Christian life is impossible with out the Holy Spirit, so we cannot pray effectually without His enabling. He helpeth our infirmity. We know not how to pray, or what to pray for as we ought. It is only as we recognize this blessed, comforting, strengthening and helping Person within us, that we are able to really pray. This is one of the great lessons we need to learn (Jude 20). “He maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.” Rely upon the Holy Spirit when you pray. “When ye pray, believe” that Christ intercedes for you. —Romans 8:34. We have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ, the risen, righteous One. Who shall separate us from His love? He ever liveth to make intercession for us (Heb. 7: 25). Our prayers reach the Father through the One at His right hand. He is a merciful, unchangeable High Priest, who is faithfully pleading His merits for all those who be lieve on Him, however imperfect they may be. He never faileth. He pleads for His own blood-bought possession. Rely upon His intercession for you and with you as you pray. Therefore, “when ye pray, believe,” without doubt ing. And keep on praying for all $$jnts, for all of God’s servants, and for a Revival in the entire Body of Christ— the Church of the living God (Eph. 6:18). — Great Commission Prayer League. H Marching Orders Once when I was working in western India I went to a place near Poona for a week-end. On Saturday night when I entered the hotel dining room I found seated beside me a naval officer, an infantry major and his wife, and a sergeant-major and his wife. When conversation started, the naval officer said: “Why don’t these missionaries stay at home and mind their business? Why do they come out here and worry these people? You can get all the converts you want at one rupee a head.” It6was the time of the Armenian massacres and .there were rumors that the British fleet might be ordered to Constantinople. I turned to the naval officer and said: “Suppose that you were ordered to take your battle ship to Constantinople tomorrow, and I were to say, ‘Why don’t you stay here and mind your business ? There is no sense in your going to the Bosporus.’ ” The man’s eyes flashed fire as he said, “I would tell you to mind your own business ; if we are ordered to go we must go, even if every ship is sunk and every sailor killed.” I said, “Quite right, my friend, but I have marching orders, not from any human government, but from the divine government. My command is to preach the Gos pel to every creature. Iudia has one-fifth of the popula tion of the world, and the primary question is not whether in India, converts may be made at one rupee or fifty rupees a head; the primary question is not whether I get any converts at all, but whether I am going to obey the last xommand of my Lord and Saviour.”— Robert P. Wilder.
