Awards Judge Huihan Liu AISM
As far back as Huihan Liu remembers, he has loved to draw and sketch. As a young child, Liu’s father taught him to write Chinese calligraphy with a brush and ink on rice paper, thus encouraging his interest in art. Liu was trained in the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Art in China. He studied at the Academy of Art College of San Francisco receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in 1972 and a Master’s Degree in 1989. With more than 40 years of experience as painter, illustrator and instructor he earned the designation of Master Member of American Impressionist Society, Master Signature Member of the Oil Painters of America and a Signature Member of the California Art Club.

• Frederic Remington Painting Award in the Prix de West, 2022 • Shirl Smithson Foundation Award, 29th OPA National Juried Exhibition, 2020 • Founders’ Award, Western Rendezvous of Art Exhibition, The Brinton Museum, Big Horn, WY, 2018 • Best of Show Award, Western Rendezvous of Art, The Brinton Museum, Big Horn, WY, 2016, 2017 • Founders’ Award for Master Signature Members and Members’ Choice Award for Master Signature Members, Oil Painters of America National Juried Exhibition, 2017 • Gold Medal for the Master Signature Division, Oil Painters of America Western Regional Show, 2009 • First Place Winner,”The California Art Club, Ninth Annual Mission San Juan Capistrano Plein Air painting event, August 2003 • Gold Medal, California Art Club’s 92nd Annual Juried Exhibition Liu has been featured in multiple publications including: Art of the West, Western Art & Architecture, American Art Collector, Southwest Art, Art-Talk Magazine and The Artist’s Magazine. AIS Master, Weizhen Liang, will also be in attendance in Boulder for the Opening Week of 23rd Annual National Juried Exhibition.
