Then, step-by-step, I pushed to digitalize the personnel action sheets. Shortly after that effort started, the coronavirus hit, and that accelerated the changeover- -they were digitalized in a few months. Then, about a year ago, I joined Concentrix. GPA: What are your responsibilities in your current role as Associate Director for Payroll? Ramona Greenhalgh: I’m responsible for payroll in an expanded DACH region that includes not only Germany, Switzerland, and Austria, but also the Balkans, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Bosnia, Serbia, and Hungary, paying about 9,000 workers. I’ve often felt I was starting from zero in each company I joined, and this one was no different. Since I’ve been there, the focus has been on Germany and just recently I was able to turn the main responsibility for Germany over to
a new colleague so I can attend to bringing the other countries more in line with what we have done for Germany. We are working to streamline payroll processes in the other countries where possible. We have to make sure all the controls are in place and they’re actually getting done. I need to make sure that the blueprints we have are followed on a global level. We currently have two payroll systems due to legacy situations, so I’ve started the project to consolidate into one. I’m working to develop our team so they can have more skills and payroll knowledge. We have a really good university we use, and we also work with LinkedIn Learning. In addition, we have AI courses within the company. GPA: Talk a little bit about mentorship. Ramona Greenhalgh: I was fortunate to have a really great role model who supported me through several major events and issues. He was always very clear and direct with me and others. I learned so much from him. He showed me not only how to effectively communicate, but also how to organize payroll efficiently to manage multiple countries while still having the bigger
