publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sin ner” (Luke 18:13). As I fold this cross we shall see what happened to him in the sight of God. We now see a red cross, re minding us of the cross on which Christ shed His blood to save sin ners. In verse 14 of this chapter Christ said, “ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.” If you are proud and haughty, you will be brought low, but if you are humble and accept Christ, His blood will cleanse from all sin.

are many Christians who are less impressive outwardly than others, but like this small book, they have the answer to the sin question within. This small book reminds me of Paul. To the Ephesian elders he said, “ Ye know, from the first day that I came into Asia, after what man ner I have been with you at all seasons . . . And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more. Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men . . . I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to re member the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:18, 25, 26, 35). Paul was not like an empty book, but was filled with the Holy Spirit and the gospel of Christ. May it be our prayer that we, too, may be filled and ready to minister to the needs of others. OBJECT: A piece of paper 814x11 inches. (Fold the paper four times, making the following sizes: 8*4 x 5(4, 5(4'x 4(4, 4(4 x 2%, 2% x 2(4 inches. With the single fold to the left and the double fold at the top, print a small “ L” with blue crayon. Swing the top double fold around to the left and unfold toward you. With the single fold to the left and the double one at the top, print a blue “ L” larger than the first. Turn and un fold, as before, and print a blue “ L” twice more, when the paper will have returned to its original size 8(4 x 11 inches. Fold the paper before the lesson, and hold in the palm of the left hand at the beginning of the lesson.) Mar. 2 7 , 1955 G o a n d G r o w

LESSON: Who can see what is in my hand? “ It is too small, and we are too far away to see,” I hear someone say. John, you may come closer and tell the others what you see.

“ It is a blue ‘L’ on a piece of white paper.” This “ L’ ’ is blue, and reminds us of love. It brings to our minds the words in Luke 10:27: “ . . . Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thy self.” The man with whom Christ was talking on this occasion was a law yer, and doubtless, very selfish. Re ferring to loving God and man Jesus said, “ This do, and thou shalt live.” Notice what happens to this letter, and you will see what Jesus wanted the lawyer to do. The letter is getting larger every time I unfold the paper. In order that the man might know more about loving God and his neighbor, Christ told the story of the good Samaritan. When He came to the end of the story, He said to the lawyer, “ Go and do thou likewise.” It is God’s will today that our love toward God and man should grow, and manifest itself in ministering to those in need. Of course, this will only happen to those who know Christ as Saviour. END.

OBJECTS: Two medical books. (These can be secured from a secondhand book store. One should be larger than the other. With a razor blade, cut

out the printing, leaving just a frame of paper on each page. Do this to the large book, leaving the small one uncut.) LESSON: Mary, will you help me to day? If you were ill, and I wanted to give you one of these medical books, which one would you take? “ I would take the largest one, as it looks as if it had the most in it.” You are making the same mistake most people make by looking at the outward appearance. See, the in side of this book is empty. There is not a word in it. There is no help for the disease which it claims to cure. Did you know that some who claim to be Christians are much like this empty book? If you watch them on their way to church, you would think they could tell you of the cure for sin, but when they have an oppor tunity of telling others of Christ, they have nothing to say. Let us look at this other smaller book. It is full of suggestions as to the symptoms and cure of the disease. It does all that it claims to do. There
