. Evangelistic Notices L eonard J. E il ^ rs , cowboy evangelist, 124 N. Florence Ave., Burbank, Calif., was especially encouraged by the children’s meetings held after school in connection with a fruitful campaign in the First Bap tist church of Wheatland, Wyo., in Janu ary. Following a series of meetings in the First Baptist Church of Rockyford, Colo., Jan. 27 to Feb. 14, Mr. Eilers was sched uled for services in Manderson, W yo.; Powell, Wyo. (March 7 to 2 1 ); Colusa, Calif.; Oakland, Calif., and Vancouver, Wash. C arl C. H arwood , 412 Ulysses St., Los Angeles, Calif., recently closed a meeting with the First Fundamental Missionary Church at Yakima, Wash. Notwithstand ing the extremely cold weather and the sickness that descended upon the city dur ing these meetings, God gave His blessing. Thirty-five came to the Lord Jesus Christ, and the church was revived. Evangelist Harwood began a meeting January 24 at the First Baptist Church, Yucaipa, Calif., and planned to go from there to the Union Church at San Jacinto, Calif. A Bible Training School in Pittsburgh The Keystone School of the Bible, 535 Penn Ave., Pittsburgh, Pa., which was in corporated in May of last year, opened its winter term on the evening of January 4. Interdenominational in character and spon sored by a group of ministers and laymen, the school meets on Tuesday and Thursdav evenings. Like many other Bible schools of the country, it includes the Standard Training Course of the Evangelical Teach er Training Association in its curriculum. A. Gordon MacLennan, pastor of the Shady- side United Presbyterian Church of Pitts burgh, is President, and William S. Hawks is Dean. AROUND THE KING’S TABLE [ Continued, from page 85] ducted, the books he wrote, and the institu tions he established. Moody’s influence is still going on, and even today multitudes are being blessed because Moody lived. Moody was a man of vision. Moody had a vision of a lost world and of the neces sity of winning the individual to the Lord Jesus. He declared: “ I look upon the world as a wrecked vessel, its ruin coming nearer and nearer. God has given me a lifeboat and has said to me, ’Moody, save all you can.’ ” D. L. Moody had a vision of Christ. He learned to know Christ as his Saviour ! when he was a young man, and afterwards he learned to know Him as Lord. He saw Christ as his Sin-Bearer, and he preached Christ as the only hope of lost men and women. He had a vision of the need of child evangelism, and he established and developed a Sunday-school in Chicago that eventually became the great Moody Memo rial Church. He had a vision of the need of trained workers who could function as soul-winners, and he established the school that is now known as The Moody Bible Institute of Chicago, an institution from which blessing is flowing out to the whole

world. He had a vision of the need of city evangelization, and he led in many efforts to win the lost in the crowded popu lation centers. One of his last prayers was, “ O God, stir the cities of America again.” Moody was a man with a passion for souls. He was in blood earnest. Soul-win ning was his main business. He made it the rule of his life to talk to at least one soul every day about his relationship to Christ. His preaching was not dry-eyed, unemotional preaching. His own heart was stirred, and therefore he stirred others. Like his Lord, he wept over lost souls. Moody was a Spirit-filled man. He sur rendered everything to God, and the Holy Spirit took possession of his personality. The following quotation reveals Moody’s attitude: “ ‘God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty . . . that no flesh should glory in his presence.’ Let us take our place in the dust and give God the glory! When God delivered Egypt, He didn’t send an army. We would have sent an army or an orator! But God sent a man who had been in the desert forty years and had an impediment in his speech. It is weakness that God wants! Nothing is small when God handles it. God wants us to ask great things of Him.”

How wonderful it would be if this cen tennial celebration would lead us all to dedicate our lives anew to Moody’s Lord that we might have the vision, zeal, and spirituality that characterized Moody’s life and ministry. LAYMEN, WAKE UP! [Continued from page 88] your place of business, and work faithfully, and call me up once in a while—at least two or three times a week—and send me a tenth of what you make.” Would you say that that young woman had any appre ciation of the value or availability of her husband’s resources? Scores of Christian people act that way. Sad it is when be lievers—the bride of» Christ—act in in dependence of the Heavenly Bridegroom, and try to manage their own pitiful little affairs. T o be united with the Maker of heaven and earth, our blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and to know Him personally, is to have in our hands the solution for every problem that may face us. If I could get you to understand that fact, it would change your life. It has changed mine! I say it to the praise and the glory of His grace. More than ever, the Bible Institute of Los Angeles needs prayer. We are glad to know that whoever takes upon his or her heart the needs of this school, will reap returns now and hereafter. Will you not use the accompanying coupon today? You will be brought into fellowship with hunr dreds of other Christians. Your own heart will be refreshed. Through united prayer, blessing will reach to the ends of the earth. The Lord Jesus said: “Ask, . . . . seek, . . . knock” (Matt. 7:7, 8). Biola World -Wide Prayer Circle By Christina J. Braskamp, Secretary

I t is w i t h humble gratitude to God that we report that mem bership in the Bi o l a Wo r l d - W i d e P r a y e r Circle now_ cen

ters in fortj'-four States of the Union and the following other countries: Canada, India, North West Africa, Australia, Canal Zone, Denmark, British West Indies. Correspondence from Biola’s prayer partners reveals this wonderful fact: Not only has the Institute been blessed through the prayers of its friends, but those who have prayed have been themselves richly rewarded of the Lord. Fathers and mothers write that since they began to pray for the students of the Bible Institute of Los Angeles, the needs of their own boys and girls have been realized more acutely, and this has led to increased prayer for them. It has pleased the Lord to save a number of these sons and daugh ters in answer to the prayers of their parents who are Biola’s faithful friends. A public school teacher who is a mem ber of the Prayer Circle asks that other friends join him in prayer for the conver sion of his forty-five students. Two other Biola intercessors have ex pressed their willingness, not only to devote an hour a week to prayer for the school, but also to give the use of their Packard car. The Car will be used, the Lord will ing, by Institute representatives and stu dent groups in meeting evangelistic engage ments.
