A Healthy Soul Is Required 1 Pet. 2:11

The soul should be preserved from the harmful effects of tobacco, liquor, undue excitement, intemperance in eat ing, and occupations which have no value. The soul is that part of man which requires gratification by various parts of the body. The soul needs to be constantly saved from giving in to things which the body desires and which are unlawful. A soul that is grati fied with ungodly things greatly hin ders the spirit which should be occu pied with heavenly business. Let the soul feed on manna from heaven and living water. Then it, too, will be healthy. CHRISTIANS SHOULD buy Bibles, Commentaries, Christian Books, Devotional Books, Bookmarks, Cards, and some good Christian gifts for their friends. It is not always true that the healthy Christian is the most useful one. Some of the sweetest ministry given to the church has been from the blind (Moon, Fanny Crosby) and shut-ins (Martha Snell Nicholson) and others who suf fered pain constantly like Edith Gil- lings Cherry. Health is not necessary for usefulness and it evidently is not always God’s will that the body should be without affliction. It is necessary, however, that the whole person be fully and happily yielded to God for whatever path He may choose. For those to whom it is given to serve actively in the harvest field, a healthy body is essential. Deep breath ing is of prime importance. All the lung space should be used. The blood should be filled with oxygen all day long. Good food, well-prepared, thor oughly chewed, and eaten at regular intervals will add to the health. Plenty of good water should be taken. Quiet and comfortable rest without worry or distress is needed. These factors will help to keep the body well.
