From the President by Paul Miller, President, Board of Governors

It’s hard to believe we are heading into October! I’d like to start my message this month with a quick review of the bigger projects completed over the past few years:

• The Club House air conditioning system was serviced and its efficacy restored. • A state of the art control system was installed after the restoration • A new 26 ton air-conditioning system has been purchased for the Grand Island Gym and will be installed on October 9th and 10th . • The Oaks fairways were Verti-Cut to remove Thatch. Thatch is decomposed grass that builds up over time on the surface of our fairways. This build up reduces water absorption to the roots of the grass and leads to using too much water. • The air circulation system in the restrooms and the kitchen of the tennis facility will be upgraded in the coming weeks. The AC system in the exercise room of the tennis facility was replaced about a year ago. • Around 5 million invested in new bunkers and greens comprising all 27 holes Through all of projects the Club has built up a margin of safety in the form of a cash reserve. The Club currently has just under 1.9 million dollars in cash that has been accumulated as a result of a positive cash flow from operations over the past several years. Roughly half of this cash position is working for the Club in short term money markets, earning in aggregate about 5 percent. This is no small detail in effective cash management, as keeping the money working this way has been additive to the Club’s cash position by around $ 50,000. The Club thanks Mr. John Pitre, our CFO, for putting his considerable business acumen to work in the manage - ment of the Club’s resources. Volunteerism of this type is and has been the Hallmark of our Club. As we expected, the Club did experience operating shortfalls in the historically slowest months, July and August. Many members were out of town, or not using the Club as much due to the heat. We have seen a very positive snap back in the month of September with revenues coming in at around 1.2 million dollars. • Pickle Ball Courts were added to the Tennis complex • The Club’s Banquet and Oak Rooms were updated. • Bathroom added on the Islands course.

(President's Message continued) The Club is in excellent financial health going into the high member usage months of October, November and December. These months are also great historically for Banquets and other Holiday related events. The Board is monitoring a roughly 3.5 % or so reducti - on in the membership base over the past few months. We will know more in the coming months as to whether there is a trend developing, or not. I will keep the membership posted. On a very positive note, we received 11 new membership applications in the month of September. Additionally, booked events for the Banquet Room were outstanding in the month of September. It’s certainly nice to see everyone back at the Club after the summer months. I’d like to take just a minute to thank all of our great volunteers who have served and currently serve on our committees. They are critical to the Club’s functioning and provide the Board with information we use to make important decisions. This commitment is no small matter, as committee members serve two or three year terms, depending on the committee. If you know one of them, please thank them personally for their service. You may even want to consider one of the committee positions for yourself in the future. They are Golf and Greens, House and Social, Finance, Membership, and Courts/Fitness. Membership on these committees have rotation every February with some of the members terming out. As a challenge of sorts, I’d like to encourage our membership base to tell friends and/or business partners about all of the great attributes of our Club and the positive developments planned for the future. I was recently reminded of perhaps the greatest benefit to belonging to our Club by our Vice President: all of the enduring and incredible friends- hips that build as a result of being a member. With 27 holes, a great tennis community, and all our other amenities it’s easy to recommend our Club. We all know people who would add to our membership

community and make it even better than it is. Let’s utilize our “network effect” to reach out to people. I sincerely believe we offer one of the best values in the Country Club industry. We currently have 580 golf members and 323 social members, for a total of 903. Be the member to bring in number 904! As the Holidays grow nearer, the Club becomes active with an array of events for everyone. From wine dinners, Halloween festivities, Fitness, Tennis and Pickleball events and Golf Tournaments, the list is long! You will find information on many of our upcoming events and activities in this edition of the Seven Oaks Scene and on our mobile app. I look forward to seeing you at the Club soon. Please take a minute to enjoy our new American flag flying outside the golf pro shop. A group of our members donated their time and money to make the project come to fruition.

4th Annual Golf Classic by Mike Anderson, Golf & Greens Committee Chairman

This year’s Seven Oaks Classic was kicked off with a party at the home of Todd and Heath Gall, and we would like to thank them for graciously opening

their home to us. Tournament day festivities began with the dedication of our new flag pole in front of the Golf Shop. The ceremony was started by a beautiful version of the Star-Spangled Banner, sung by 11 year-old Gwen Grider, and an Honor Guard, made up of ROTC students, performed the inaugural raising of the American Flag. The flag, that was previously flown over the United States Capital, wasprovidedbyBakersfieldCongressmanand Speaker of the House, Kevin McCarthy. Construction of the pole was made possible by the hard work and generous donations of Seven Oaks members Dennis Weaver, Ted McLemore, Jim Varner and Dan Corriea. It was a perfect day for golf and all who participa- ted in the tournament enjoyed unlimited food and beverages, sponsored by Kyle Wigley and Jim Varner. Thanks to both of you for your generous donation. The day was capped off by a Closest to the Pin Contest. The 160-yard shot was taken from just outside the patio near the putting green and required golfers to carry their shot over the water to the green on Lakes #4. Two players shared the prize pool, worth $10,000! The purpose of the Golf Classic is to raise funds for special golf-related projects that will better our Club and enhance our golfing experience. The proceeds from the first Golf Classic in 2018, provided the funding to improve the approach and reshape the green on Lakes #4. This year’s tournament raised over $44,000 and with the proceeds from prior year tournaments, we currently have just over $100,000 toward our next project; a Golf Training Center on the west side of the driving range. Future fundraising plans include possible concerts and brick sales, pending Board approval. The architect renditions of the new training center should be ready soon. Please be sure to stop by the clubhouse and take a look, once they are completed. Next year we are considering making several changes to the tournament. The first will require that at least one member of each team is a current

Seven Oaks member. The second change will break the tournament into three flights, a “Gross” flight, hitting from the blue tees, a “Net” flight hitting from the white tees and a “Senior” flight (65 and older) hitting from the gold tees. As previously mentioned, this year’s tournament was a huge success. We would like to thank all of the members that participated and helped sponsor the tournament, along with the Seven Oaks staff who did a fantastic job.
