El año 2004 se inunda inesperada e irremediablemente el embalse Ralco en la Región del Biobío, sepultando bajo millones de metros cúbicos de agua el cementerio de la comunidad pehuenche del lugar. De allí nace la idea de crear un memorial de un lugar sagrado vulnerado e imposible de recuperar, que acerque la comunidad a sus muertos y condene eternamente lo ocurrido. En base a la cosmovisión pehuenche se proyecta un punto de encuentro entre vivos y muertos, posicionando sobre el cementerio inundado un volumen de hormigón. In 2004, the Ralco reservoir in the Biobío Region was unexpectedly and irretrievably flooded, burying the cemetery of the local Pehuenche community under millions of cubic meters of water. This situation gave birth to the idea of creating a memorial of a sacred place damaged and impossible to recover, bringing the community closer to their dead and eternally condemning what happened. Based on the Pehuenche worldview, a meeting point between living and dead is projected, placing a volume of concrete over the flooded cemetery.
