El encargo consistió en un quincho y refugio familiar utilizado de manera esporádica e informal. En la génesis del proyecto fue determinante la demolición de la casa del dueño en Santiago y su petición de reutilizar materiales y terminaciones: estructura de vigas y pilares, revestimientos, marcos de ventanas y puertas, todo en alerce y roble. La casa se propone como un volumen unitario y rotundo, cuya cubierta de forma cónica invertida dialoga con el entorno volcánico. Bajo el techo el programa se divide en dos: la vivienda y la zona del quincho, que ocupa un tercio de la superficie cubierta. El frente sur, hacia el bosque, se mantiene opaco y el resto de los frentes se abren al paisaje a través de ventanales perimetrales en todas las orientaciones restantes. Se emplaza a orillas del Lago Panguipulli mirando al norte, en una planicie natural que media entre un bosque nativo y el inicio de la pendiente que baja al lago, con vistas hacia las aguas y al volcán Villarrica en la lejanía. The commission involved the design of a barbecue and family refuge to be used sporadically and informally. The genesis of the project was determined by the demolition of the owner’s house in Santiago and his request to reuse materials and finishes: structural beams and columns, finishes, window and door frames, all in Patagonian cypress and oak. The proposed house is a unified and categorical volume, whose inverted cone-shaped roof relates with the volcano environment. Under the roof the program is divided into two: the house and the barbecue area, which occupies one third of the covered area. The southern front, towards the forest, remains opaque while the rest of the facades open to the landscape with perimeter windows in all the remaining orientations. It is located on the north facing shore of Lake Panguipulli, in a natural plain that mediates between an endemic forest and the beginning of the slope that goes down to the lake, with views towards the waters and the Villarrica volcano in the distance.
