CONCLUSIONS

In short, the project seeks to position agriculture as a multidimensional landscape that can function, as has been said, in its economic, ecological and experiential aspects; a landscape at the same time, productive and regenerative, spatially complex and changeable. These qualities have the potential to improve both the ecological and socioeconomic context of rural and urban communities. As a viable alternative to monocultures, the research poses it is possible to design a landscape that is regenerative, resilient and full of spatial and sensory experiences within the parameters of efficiency of mechanized industrial agriculture. An emphasis is placed on the importance of addressing this problem through multiple scales and limits. The regressive processes in the landscape surpass the scale of land ownership or tenure, as well as political and administrative dimensions. Although such processes can be treated at the local level (e.g., the plot), it is essential to broaden the approach to the regional context to achieve an impact on the real scale of the problem. This is significant, considering regions facing similar problems, such as central Chile, where widespread drought and harmful agricultural practices endanger a

high-value economic sector, as well as water security and food for millions of people. Finally, the research advocates effective integration between design and science; a relationship that can be led and mediated by the design disciplines. It is necessary to test solutions rooted in scientific knowledge and research and employ, in this process, design as a means of cultural articulation and narrative.
