the architects Mario Recordón Burnier (1922-1994)
He was born in Osorno in 1922. In 1945, he became an architect from the University of Chile. He formed a part- nership with Edwin Weil, a school friend, and university colleague, which ended when he returned to Osorno to live with his family. He married Marianne Marie Martin in 1952, and they had three children. In an architectural competition, he met Alberto Sartori and they formed a partnership that lasted three decades, until his death. In the beginning, both were assistant professors at the University of Chile: Mario, with Juan Martínez Gutiérrez, and Alberto, with Roberto Dávila Carson. In addition, Recordón worked in the mornings as the head architect for the Ministry of Defense. Between 1955 and 1972, he worked as head of the Technical Department for DIGEDER. He developed multiple works and stadiums such as the National Stadium, the Concepción Stadium, and the Antofagasta Stadium. In 1942, he participated in the South American Athletics Championship in Santiago; in 1954, in the South American Championship in Montevideo, and he won the Decathlon; and in 1955, he became the best sportsman in hurdles and decathlon in a tournament held in Chile. He participated in the 1948 London Olympic Games. In 1987, he received the National Architecture Award. He was Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism at the University of Chile between 1988 and 1990. He died in 1994. Luis Alberto Sartori Hevia (1936-2008) He was a multifaceted man, who maintained an optimistic vision throughout his life that he wanted to pass on to his nine children and 23 grandchildren, which he had with his wife, Carmen del Campo. He studied until the age of 24 at the University of Chile's Institute of Musical Extension, and then, after studying Engineering for a few months at the Catholic University, he entered the University of Chile to study architecture. Together with Recordón, they built schools in the south, small areas in the city, the Colina prison, the Israelita Stadium and the extension of Sport Francais, and the Colo - Colo stadium, among others. He was president of the 2002 Architecture Biennial. He passed away in 2008.
