La Alianza Francesa, miembro de la red A.E.F.E., es un establecimiento que tiene como misión llevar la educación francesa al mundo. Toman- do esto como punto de partida del encargo, se buscó trabajar con un planteamiento que se adecuara al espíritu francés que, para los autores del proyecto, tiene que ver con la “ra- cionalidad”. A la vez se consideró que la lógica francesa se ve reflejada en una manera de vivir los espacios en donde prima el purismo, la simpleza y la coherencia. En una primera aproximación al colegio exis- tente se tomó en consideración la importancia de los lugares de encuentro, sus diferentes es- calas y aproximaciones a las salas de clases. En base a estas características y a las condiciones del terreno, se generó la idea que dio inicio al partido general del proyecto. Las vistas encajonadas, contenidas entre los planos que conforman el cordón de cerros del valle de Chamicero, asociado a un paisaje árido, llevó a los arquitectos a reconocer dos tipos de vistas: la lejana, que se ve desde la autopista, y en la que se aprecia la totalidad del predio, y la cercana y peatonal, que corresponde a la vista del edificio. En base a lo anterior y a la topografía del lugar, se propuso levantar y plegar la tierra, integrando el proyecto al paisaje con el fin de no edificar la vista lejana. En contraposición, el edificio pasa por debajo del terreno plegado, acentuando y magnificando la vista urbana del proyecto, donde la escala humana pasa a tomar preponderancia.
Alianza Francesa, a member of the A.E.F.E. network, is an establishment whose mission is to bring French education to the world. Considering this as a starting point for the commission, the aim was to work with an ap- proach that would keep the French spirit that for the authors of the project has to do with "rationality". At the same time, they considered that French logic is reflected in living spaces where purism, simplicity, and coherence prevail. In an initial approach to the existing school, the importance of the meeting places, their dif- ferent scales, and approximations to the class- rooms were taken into consideration. Based on these characteristics and the condition of the landscape, the general idea of the project was conceived. The boxed-in views, which are contained among the planes that make up the Chamicero Valley's range of hills, associated with an arid landscape, led the architects to recognize two types of views: the distant one, which can be seen from the highway, and in which the entire property can be appreciated; the nearby and pedestrian one, which will be the view of the building. Based on the aforementioned and the to- pography of the location, a proposal to lift and fold the land, integrating the project to the landscape in order not to build over the distant view. In contrast, the building passes under the folded land, accentuating and magnifying the project´s urban view, where the human scale takes precedence.
