El Edificio WALK es un conjunto de 26 departa- mentos de uno y dos dormitorios, distribuidos en ocho pisos y tres subterráneos. Se emplaza junto al paseo El Mañío y frente a una zona de baja altura residencial, donde coexisten la intensidad de la vida urbana y la intimidad de la vida de barrio. El encargo fue desarrollar un edificio de “colección”, de una arquitectura vanguardista y volumetría simple, y respetuoso con su entorno. Para esto se optó por losas en voladizo, amplias superficies acristaladas y una envolvente des- plegable y flexible que aporta dinamismo a las fachadas norte, oriente y poniente, asegurando la privacidad y maximizando el confort de los departamentos. A la vez, la fachada sur es totalmente transparente. Unas cintas metálicas continuas en cada piso recorren las terrazas conectando las dis- tintas fachadas, lo que resuelve el sistema de rieles a la vez que colabora con la expresión de las barandas de cristal que proyectan los espacios interiores y que aportan amplitud a los mismos.
The WALK Building is a set of 26 one and two-bedroom apartments, distributed over eight floors and three underground levels. It is located next to Paseo el Mañío and in front of a low-rise residential area, where the intensity of urban life and the intimacy of neighborhood life coexist. The commission was to develop a "collec- tion" building, with a simple volumetric and avant-garde architecture, and respectful of its environment. For this purpose, we chose cantilevered slabs, large glass surfaces, and a flexible folding envelope that provides dy- namism to the north, east, and west facades, ensuring privacy and maximizing the apart- ments´ comfort. At the same time, the south facade is totally transparent. Continuous metallic strips on each floor run along the terraces connecting the different facades, which resolves the rail system while collaborating with the expression of the glass railings that project the interior spaces and provide them with amplitude.
