programas que activan esta zona bajo un mismo paseo. De esta manera se evitan las divisiones internas en el parque y a al mismo tiempo se ayuda a completar el ciclo del agua. Considerando el panorama mundial en relación al recurso hídrico, el proyecto propone transformar el parque O’Higgins en un “elemento purificador” no solo para las aguas del lugar, sino también para la ciudad. Busca transformar el concepto de “parques” en el de “riñones de la ciudad” proponiendo ampliar el sistema de purificación de las aguas grises a la de los edificios residenciales y comerciales cercanos al parque. De esta forma se da una solución a un problema real y sumamente importante a escala de ciudad: los parques podrían captar el agua gris que actualmente se está desechando, para purificarla y utilizarla para regar las áreas verdes públicas. El agua gris es una fuente hídrica que tenderá a aumentar a lo largo de los años, a diferencia de los otros tipos de agua como las lluvias, la cordillerana y la potable, que tenderán a ser cada vez más demandadas y escasas. El uso de las aguas grises para finalidades de riego en áreas verdes podría ser beneficioso tanto para la agricultura como para el consumo humano, ya que al agua que actualmente se destina para finalidades de riego se le podría dar otro tipos de usos generando beneficios a escala del país. /
