Concurso Nacional de Ideas Antofagasta Redes Peatonales Antofagasta Pedestrian Network´s National Competition of Ideas
Con el fin de mejorar la conexión en tres ejes urbanos de Antofagasta, se convocó a un concurso de ideas para crear redes peatonales que unieran los sectores más altos de la ciudad con el borde costero. Siete oficinas presentaron sus proyectos de los cuales salió ganadora la propuesta de Archipiélago, liderada por Nicole Rochette.
In order to improve the connection in three urban axes of Antofagasta, a competition of ideas called for the creation of a pedestrian network that would join the highest parts of the city with the coastline. Seven offices presented their projects from which the Archipelago proposal, led by Nicole Rochette, won.

CREO Antofagasta administrada por la Fundación Chile junto al Ministerio de Vivienda y Urbanismo, la Municipalidad de Antofagasta y el Gobierno Regional, junto con el Colegio de Arquitectos, y el patrocinio y organización de la Asociación de Oficinas de Arquitectos, impulsaron el concurso Nacional de Ideas, Antofagasta Redes Peatonales, con el fin de aportar a la construcción de una ciudad más integrada, con énfasis el la proyección de vías preferentemente peatonales. El certamen buscaba idear soluciones urbanísticas y arquitectónicas que mejoraran la conexión de los barrios emplazados en los cerros con el mar, facilitando la accesibilidad al borde costero y a los nuevos espacios públicos que se están construyendo, así como también la conectividad entre las zonas residenciales y las de alto tráfico. El encargo contemplaba mejorar el acceso entre el ba- rrio Estación y la Villa Codelco; resolver los problemas de conectividad entre la calle Maipú y el principal mall de la ciudad; y potenciar la conectividad desde los barrio residen- ciales del sector norte hacia el nuevo balneario La Chimba.
CREO Antofagasta Administered by the Chile Foundation together with the Ministry of Housing and Urbanism, the Municipality of Antofagasta and the Regional Government, to- gether with the collaboration of the Association of Architects, and the sponsorship and organization of the Association of Architects' Offices AOA, promoted the Antofagasta Pedestrian Networks´ National Competition of Ideas in order to contribute to the construction of a more integrated city, with emphasis on planning preferably pedestrian routes. The competition aimed to devise urban and architectural solutions that would improve the connection of the neighborhoods located on the hills with the sea, facilitating accessibility to the coastline and to the new public spaces that are being built, as well as connectivity between residential and high-traffic areas. The request contemplated improving the access between the Estación neighborhood and Villa Codelco; solving con- nectivity problems between Maipú Street and the city's main mall; and enhancing connectivity from the residential neigh- borhoods in the northern sector to the new La Chimba beach.
