El mundo está enfrentando un hito sanitario no visto hace más de 100 años, ¿crees que esto se traducirá en una nueva forma de proyectar y hacer arquitectura, tal cómo afectó la tuberculosis a la arquitectura moderna? Ya es evidente que el mundo, tras estos meses, ha cambiado. Nuestros clientes ya no nos piden el mismo enunciado que antes de la pandemia. Los hoteles serán distintos, las oficinas no tan densas, la vivienda más flexible… En nuestro estudio ya estamos en el escenario de proyectar pensando en las lecciones que nos ha dado esta trágica epidemia. Lo que estamos viendo ahora, es que la gente está emigrando de las grandes metrópolis y su alta densidad. Muchos están buscando irse a la montaña, a los Pirineos, a las periferias. Va a haber una redistribución de la riqueza, un cambio social, y una reac- tivación de los pequeños pueblos. Con los satélites y las nuevas redes de comunicación estamos conectados en cualquier parte del mundo, puedes trabajar en cualquier lugar, habrá centros de teletrabajos, etcétera. Tenemos tres crisis simultáneas: la política y social, la de salud y la climática, y las soluciones que demos desde todos los ámbitos del conocimiento, entre ellos, la arquitectura, deberían converger en el camino de la redistribución de la riqueza, y de una mayor justicia social.
The world is facing a health challenge not seen for more than 100 years: do you think this will translate into a new way of designing and making architecture, just as tuber- culosis affected modern architecture? It is already evident that the world has changed af- ter these last few months. Our clients are no longer asking us for the same statement as they did before the pandemic. Hotels will be different, offices not so dense, housing more flexible... In our studio, we are already in the stage of projecting thinking about the lessons that this tragic epidemic has given us. What we are seeing now, is that people are migrating from the large metropolises and their high density. Many people are looking to go to the mountains, to the Pyrenees, to the suburbs. There is going to be a redistribution of wealth, a social change, and a revival of small towns. With satellites and new communication networks we can be connected anywhere in the world, you can work anywhere, there will be telework centers, and so on. We have three simultaneous crises: political and social, health and climate, and the solutions we provide from all areas of knowledge, including architecture, should converge on the path of redistribution of wealth, and greater social justice.
