Simbiosis se define como la relación entre dos tipos de seres, en el que el uno provee al otro de las condiciones necesarias para continuar su existencia, lo que implica coexistir por mutuo beneficio. “Como un aspecto central del pensamiento ecológico, la simbiosis se basa en la interco- nexión entre vida y los seres vivientes”. 21 Solo recientemente el hombre no solo ha entendido que es parte de un mundo que comparte con otros seres vivos y por tanto es un actor conectado al éxito de otras especies, sino que, además – y lo que es más dramático – también dependiente del éxito de esas otras especies.

In 2010, Mohsen Mostafi and Gareth Doherty in Ecolog- ical Urbanism, explore the capabilities of design to bring together the visions of the urban and ecological project. Ecological Urbanism opens the way to understand our cities as part of an interconnected and complex world, where we must make use of the intrinsic abilities of Homo sapiens to work as a team. Finally, the planning of our settlements seems to cross the border into a definitive incorporation of the environmental processes that have structured and formed the landscape for thousands of years. Although urban planning is moving in this direction and landscaping has already gained ground in relation to archi- tecture, the disciplines that build and design the city still have many pending edges to it and the urgent challenge of working together. These challenges can be summarized mainly in three aspects; scale methodology, systems-based design processes, and the incorporation of water as a The first step towards a hybrid architecture was taken by Patrick Geddes. The relationship he proposes is fundamental to fit the environmental processes of larger scales - either of the basin or of the whole world - with the possibilities that smaller scales can bring with it. This contribution must be rooted in the local possibilities of that scale, not only in the acquisition of materials but also in the understanding of ecosystems, the incorporation of endemic species, and the tradition with which communities have historically dealt with the challenges that that specific place poses for them.
