Dentro de los 11 casos de estudio seleccionados, la casa Eleodoro Cortés fue la primera en ser proyectada y cons- truida en el cerro San Luis a comienzos de 1955. Este hecho arquitectónico marcó fuertemente tanto una postura como una visión arquitectónica para el resto de los arquitectos que trabajaron en el loteo. Un aspecto clave de esta vivienda unifamiliar es su partido general en el terreno donde se emplaza ya que se trata de un terreno triangular muy expuesto y en zona de curva, lo que hace que tenga un solo medianero de respaldo condicionando tanto el orden, como la ubicación del programa de la casa. A su regreso de Estados Unidos, Acevedo invitó a par- ticipar a este proyecto a Costabal y Méndez, con los cuales había trabajado durante sus años de estudio en la universidad. En los croquis originales dibujados sobre papel con membrete de los tres integrantes, se evidencia un modo de trabajo claro con respecto a la disposición de los cuerpos y su funcionalidad, recurso muy trabajado tanto por los arquitectos norteamericanos como por los
Among the 11 case studies selected, the Eleodoro Cortés house was the first to be designed and built on San Luis Hill in early 1955. This architectural fact strongly marked both an architectural position and vision for the rest of the architects who worked on the subdivision. A key aspect of this single-family house is its general position on the land where it is located, because it is a very exposed triangular terrain and in a curved area, which means it has a single back wall, determining both the order and the location of the house´s program. Upon his return from the United States, Acevedo invited Costabal and Mendez, with whom he had worked during his years of study at the university, to participate in this project. In the original sketches drawn on the letterheads of the three members, a clear working method is evi- dent with respect to the arrangement of the bodies and their functionality, a feature worked on by both American and Mexican architects.
