Things quickly as Panto Bowling, a chaotic and thrilling spectacle of and array of Monster Trucks and vehicles vs. Pantos began. The crowd was on the edge of their seats as two massive forces clashed in a three-round tournament that could only be described as pure madness. Diego's Story

By Gracie Grant

Diego’s ordeal is a stark illustration of how police incompetence can compound trauma rather than prevent it. According to his account, Diego was trying to allegedly flee a robbery on foot when LSPD officers found him on a bridge, then tazed and cuffed him, and placed him into the vehicle of Sergeant Chris McGringle. He was transported to VPD, where basic procedure quickly unraveled. A probationary officer processed Diego under the supervision of a senior officer, but during the search the cadet seized not just the batteries from Diego’s phone, as required, but the entire phone itself, along with a knife and Diego’s radio. The officers then left the cell area. Diego was then alone, unattended and forgotten in a holding cell for more than an hour, with no contact, no explanation, and not a single charge read to him. The true tragedy, however, did not

fully emerge until later: the officer who took Diego’s belongings had lost them entirely. After another hour at VPD spent searching in vain, senior officer Brooklyn Baker ultimately informed Diego that his phone would never be recovered. Speaking to Weazel News reporter Gracie Grant, Diego described the loss in raw terms: “All of my memories are on that phone. Everything I have done in the city, conversations with people that are no longer with us, contacts that I can no longer call, all the photos from my wedding lost forever, video diaries about making Diego’s Dijon… all gone.” While Diego did receive some compensation, it could not restore what was lost memories, history, and pieces of a life lived, gone forever, underscoring how careless policing can have devastating consequences.

O'Malley

By Gracie Grant

Photography by John Iver

O’Malley serves as the Quartermaster of the Southside Freebooters, a role she has held for seven years, earning respect as both a steady leader and a driving force within the crew. She is motivated entirely by her people, often describing the Freebooters as a family of pirates rather than a hierarchy. “If there is no crew, there is no ship” is not just a motto but the foundation of how she leads. She makes a point of ensuring everyone feels involved, valued, and essential, reinforcing unity at every opportunity. Those around O’Malley know her as hilarious, caring, and fiercely courageous, someone who consistently looks out for others before herself. She is a natural organizer who keeps things running smoothly without seeking personal gain, and whatever she earns, she shares. This lack of selfishness, paired with her reliability, earns her deep loyalty from the crew. At the same time, her confidence and resolve ensure she is taken seriously by rivals who understand she is not to be underestimated.

She wakes each day ready for the next adventure, guided by a simple outlook: “It’s a good day when you don’t get shot.” O’Malley supports her crew through thick and thin, whether that means time spent in prison with the DOC, handling pressure, or winding down late at night with friends over a drink. She is thought of fondly by her crew and terribly by her enemies— and that is just the way she likes it.

WEAZEL INVESTIGATION

By Gracie Grant

In a stunning account that raises serious questions about justice and internal politics, a former Co-Director of the FIB claims they were wrongfully terminated following a controversial malfeasance charge that never resulted in a felony conviction. According to the former official, the charge stemmed from the seizure of items during an exigent-circumstances entry into a private residence—an action they say was explicitly approved beforehand by both a court clerk and a judge. Despite this, the State Attorney pursued a malfeasance charge, which multiple legal sources allegedly acknowledged was misapplied and improperly used. Facing termination if a felony proceeded, the official says they were pressured into accepting a guilty plea to a misdemeanor equivalent under the belief their job would be preserved. Instead, they were fired anyway. “They said it was because it was a felony,” the former director stated, “but there is no felony on my record.”

The situation grows more troubling when viewed in context. The termination occurred just days after the former Co-Director began investigating a high-level, classified corruption case within government institutions—an investigation so sensitive, they claim, that even naming it could be dangerous. They allege the firing was premeditated, noting they were effectively removed from duty while still under “suspension,” and that leadership openly admitted they wanted to “make an example” of them. The former official also tied their dismissal to attempts to investigate the death of Alexis Rylee, their next of kin, whose killing allegedly involved police inaction and was followed by what they describe as a complete lack of investigative reporting and an active cover-up. “I started asking questions about her death and what she was investigating,” they said. “That’s when I lost my job.” If substantiated, these allegations suggest a deeply unsettling pattern of retaliation, misconduct, and corruption at the highest levels of law enforcement—claims Weazel News is continuing to independently verify.
